I find it hard to believe that the samaritans hang up on you! I have done voluntary work for a similar help line and we do not hang up on people, unless the person is being abusive, making inappropiate remarks, etc. And even then we do do jsut hang up: we warn the caller that we are going to hang up on them first. Therefore I think you might just have a problem with the connection.

Perhaps you are too well known, and they know what to expect!
Some years ago I attended a talk given by Chad Varah (the founder of The Samaritans), he talked about people like you (the 'Vera's') of this world.

And I agree with what Fretting not says. We always had to give them a warning then three minutes before we hung up.

Sooner or later, THEY will need help, as they will all be going insane cos you keep calling them.
