The PS3 wont be region coded for games, but not sure what they are planning on doing with Blueray videos. You probably wouldn't be able to get one in NY anyways, it'll pretty much sell out instantly.

"March 22, 2006 - In a Q&A session following the platform keynote address at GDC 2006 this morning, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Phil Harrison confirmed what was heavily demanded for import gamers all over the world, and yet previously thought unthinkable for a major corporation: the PS3 will be region-free for gaming."

60gb runs the ps2 emulation more effective. The Emotion Engine is something for the ps2. The 80gb doesn't hav it besides the undeniable fact that it emulates it. if you're contained in the U.S., i don't believe of you'll locate it. Gamestop has the 60gb besides the undeniable fact that that is refurbished. I say that is not a very good time because of the monetary device slowing down. yet f you extremely favor it, flow purchase it. Ebay - best palc to envision. Gamestop - 80gb metallic equipment strong 4 equipment (tremendous grant)

the different is that the PS3 will be region coded, so only games bought in the same region will work on your PS3.

So if you buy a PS3 in Japan, only games bought in Japan will work on your PS3.

This is the same thing that is done w/ PS2/xBox, etc.

DVD player also region code their players and disc.
