FIRST make sure there is sufficient airflow around your modem and router, heat kills!!! Next: Unplug your modem and router from power, allow to sit for 5 minutes, and replug them in, once they resync and receive any updates, you should be good, if not, one of those devices, or your nick card may be going bad.
Also call comcast, they cana test your modem from the office, and see if they need to have your lines/drop checked, or possibly a node in your area.

This question is so broken i dont think i really understand it. I will try to answer with general tips.

If you have the ability to, use a cable to plug directly into the modem, bypassing the wireless. If you get intermittent usage wiht a hardwaire connection, you will want to check three things

1) The network card,
2) Your modem
3) The service provider to see if they have outages

you don't really think you need to buy a new PC since you are having INTERNET issues?
Check with your ISP the next time you have a problem.
ISP=Internet Service Provider...do you know who they are?

it could be a wireless problem. Losing your signal? is your signal strong? You've created more questions with just your one.

You know what. There are way to many factors involved here. The confiugration depends on the router configuration, the nic, cable company, security, firewall, virus checker among others. You need to get yourself a computer knowledgable freind to drop by and fix it for you.

I'm not sure many people are going to understand your question correctly - But let me try help anyways - I have a strong suspicion that if your computer is trying to connect to the internet by itself, that you might have spyware. Adaware by lavasoft (google that) makes a nice and free home user spyware scanning and removal application. I'm guessing that you have spyware /adware on your computer (even if you dont think you do) and its trying to get out without you asking it to.
