Heredity has a lot to do with our periods. I started when I was 10 (42 years ago..you don't think that is fun???) My daughters got theirs around 13. I would say that there is no worries about the starting date because we are all different..your weight means nothing to your internal health and female plumming! I had a friend who was also very thin and did not see her first til she was 17. She is a proud Mother and healthy adult today. Look for breast tenderness, aches in your lower abdomon..could be your ovaries getting ready to kick in. Your first flow may not be anything but a dark brown stain that pads will handle. All in all, just let nature take her course because once you start you may wish you hadn't!

You need to put on about 15 lbs to be getting within a healthy weight range for your height, and that's on the LOW side. I'm 5'4'' and weigh 108 and am TINY. I was very sick about 3 years ago and dropped down to 93 lbs and my period stopped. That could be a significant factor in why you have not started your period. You are not physically healthy enough for your body to support a baby, and your body knows that. If you have not started your period by 16-18, then you might want to see a doctor. You need to start drinking ensure shakes or something like that to make sure you're getting adequate nutrition and to start getting enough calories to put on weight.

If your mom got her period when she was 14 1/2 and you are about that age now I wouldn't worry about not having yours yet. You should talk to your doctor about whether your weight is healthy for your height and body structure, if you are underweight it can slow down the start of your period. If you play sports or are very active in other ways this can also slow down the start of your period.
Some of the signs that you are going to start your period are, breast tenderness, vaginal discharge, moodiness(PMS), etc... You can find many web sites that discuss menstruation to get more information.

Each person's body is different. Some females start their monthly cycle as early as 12 yrs old while others don't start until they are 15. Don't worry, when it arrives you may be surprised. Make sure you have protection on you as soon as you turn 15 because you may get it while you are in a public place, (school, or mall)
Hope this helps

I was told in health class years ago that if a young lady did not start her period by the age of 16 then it would be time to go see a doctor.

first of all, I merely wanted to permit you be attentive to which you have my favorite call for a woman. ok, on on your question, i think of that determining could make it not come as quickly. Alot of athletic females get their classes later. i'm uncertain why it is, yet i think of it may desire to have something to do with the % of physique fat. If I have been you, i could ask my mom whilst she started her era. that could now and lower back be a sturdy indicator of once you'll be able to desire to start yours. additionally, talk over with any cousins, aunts, grandmothers you will have... particularly if additionally they have scoliosis. this could provide you a concept of once you will get it. the drawback is, attempt to not stress out approximately it with the aid of fact stress could nicely be a element in prolonging / combating the onset of a menstrual cycle. sturdy success!

Your mom isn't always the best predictor, my mom got hers at 16 and I got mine at 10. Everyone is different. I wouldn't worry until 17 - and then just make an appt. with your doctor to discuss.
