people don't trust what they can't understand, they have different ways of showing their lack of trust to that object. One is laughing

People make fun of things that they don't understand or make them uncomfortable. Gothic people are out of the norm and to some people making fun of them or giving them a hard time is easier than trying to understand them. If being Goth is what you like to do then go for it, it's not hurting anyone.

Considering how long this so called fad has been around it amazes me that people still react that way. Wow 25 some odd years & people still act like a bunch of talking monkeys when they see someone gothic! It's a sad commentary on peoples inability to even try to accept someone who is different for ANY reason.

B/c as usrual they don't really get what goth is. But I to admit the Gothic Gal on that Classmates show is pretty funny.

Why do people make fun of nerdy looking people? Its all because of stereotypes, but honestly I had a friend who was into that and I mean you have to decide to do it and either want the attention or realize you're going to get it. You cant put on a black cape and paint your face black and expect people not to wonder - people always wonder what would make people choose to look a certain way.

Some people are scared of anything that is different from themselves and therefore try to make that difference wrong and make fun of it. Its just ignorance. Some people are very small and narrow minded. Sorry but thats just the way it is.

its quite unusual to see people dressed like they do and black clothes fingernails and lipstick plus other awesome looking tats and piercings anywhere and everywhere on their bodies. i dont make fun but i do know that the younger generation has a fad for gothic ideas but when they get older it will die out just like disco music and dance.

When I was goth over 15 years ago, I was taunted quite a lot..
In my old age though.. I just make fun of Emo kids... :-)

A couple of reasons-1-they don't understand them-and 2-people tend to fear the things they don't understand.
Rather than saying they don't understand them or are afraid of them, they do the easy thing and make fun of them.

i dont know but im good friends with a gothic person. shes one of the most funniest people i know. nothing wrong with goths
