Absolutely not. Never. No. Why would I want to destroy my career, future career prospects, and personal and professional reputation, and possibly risk landing in jail?

If only any of my professors were worth dating! LOL

Let's see.... there's the arrogant asian guy who thinks students are so far beneath him that he can just squash them if he so chooses.

There's the anal-retentive (too much of a lady to type this word) who will not answer a students question on the message board if they missed a punctutation or have a typo or anything wrong. He will make a sarcastic remark about how he will answer the question when they fix their posting.

There's the department chair.... who cannot deal with aging gracefully and combs his hair over to pretend he isn't balding.

I could go on, but you get the point. LOL They are there to teach me and some of them don't even do that. The ones who do, I respect too much to consider it.

So, there we have it. I'm a student and not there for romancing the teacher.

Sue ~ who is available by the way if anyone knows someone 50- 58ish who is very Christian and looking for a nice lady. :o) Just as long as he's not my teacher.

(I'm assuming this is posted by the flirter, not the flirtee.)
Please tell me you are at least in college!!!!!
If you are in high school, you need to stop, IMMEDIATELY!!! Even if only a rumor gets started about you and him because you won't stop flirting, he can be fired and outcast from the teaching profession under suspicion of dating a student.
Now, if you are in college and over 18, simply wait until the semester is over and approach him. As long as you are not taking his class, there shouldn't be a problem between two adults dating each other. However, check your University's policies about this. Some don't care, some reaallllyyyy do.
Whatever the case, keep his professional career in mind before doing anything rash.

I would not under any conditions go out with one of my students if by "go out" you mean date. I would consider that unethical and a serious breach of the trust put in me by the student's parents and the school authorities. You need to do everything possible to discourage the flirting as well. Above all, NEVER be alone with the student anywhere if the flirting continues. You will be endangering your career as well as you4r reputation.

Chow!!

I teach in high school and I would never date a student. I cringe every time I hear that someone has done it and basically want teachers who do such things publicly flogged (regardless if they are male or female). There is a special hell for teachers who get involved in a romantic relationship with their students. There is just no way I would become romantically involved with a student.

An implied (and in some places , written) code of ethics governs the actions of student-prof. relations. As a prof/guide/ teacher we have a power advantage over students and an exploitation of that power advantage is against the code.... so it is impossible to go out with on of _my_ students. It's also generally frowned upon going out with students at all..... again... it's the power advantage/ percieved power advantage....

No way!!!!! First of all their kids, second its illegal, and third its pretty sick. The only way it would be ok is if I was a college professor and my student was like 20 years old. Thats a whole different ball game
