If a burglar arrived in jail with a broken leg and didn't receive any treatment or pain killers would you all consider it humane?
Any compensation paid to these individuals should be taken away and given to the victims of the crimes they were charged with.
But that doesn't excuse a person with an illness (self inflicted or not) being refused medical treatment. They will all receive £3,750 each. I just hope that at least some of then learn a lesson, but sadly I suspect not.
By the way, a significant percentage of the people who end up in jail as a result of drug related crime, were brought up in extreme poverty, have very little education and abusive backgrounds, before you go down the 'Daily Mail' response to this it may be worth remembering that they are often as much a victim themselves.
So this story makes me very angry, a 10, but not, I suspect for the same reasons as you.

On a scale of 1 to 10? Couldn't it be 100? I'm that bloody furious. These fools should be locked inpadded cells and made to suffer. Just like the people they've robbed n mugged or even killed have suffered!!

well £800,000 to be shared between all of them, so it's about £3,500 each. Cold Turkey is a way to kick a habit, so what's their problem, A sex addict isn't allowed a Woman. What next Children to feed a Pedophiles addiction?. Hum 10 like you by the way.

I agree with Juju. A person is sentenced to x amount of months/years in prison for their crime, THAT is their punishment. Their right to medical care is not supposed to be compromised. Cold turkey is a very dangerous way to withdraw from drugs, medical attention is required in this process. In the case of alcohol, cold turkey withdrawl can kill you.
If we suggest that prisoners don't deserve certain medical care for self-inflicting illnesses, then we'd be going down a dangerous path. Injuries following punch ups? Lung cancer? To name a few.
