With the advent of 'Marriage' comes several items that can be difficult in same sex unions. A lot of this has to due with the potential fraud and abuse that can grow from this type of ruling. For example, one person has full insurance benefits from their employer, they then are approached by a same sex person that has a very expensive illness and they enter into a 'marriage' in order to get the medical benefits of the employer.
Here's another question, if two people live together and sign an apartment lease are they now considered 'common law' married?
Currently there are insurance breaks for married couples that is based on the reduction of risk due to the reduced driving time and the 'perception' of an increase in responsibility. Should gay marriage grant the same deductions?
Look at the example where a gay couple get's married and then desires a child so they adopt one. If the 'marriage' falls apart and one 'parent' runs to another state that does not recognize gay marriage, how does the car and custody rules apply?
As you can see there are a huge number of difficult implications to this seemingly simply request.
When two people to get married this process brings with it a large number of rights, responsibilites and legal issues that far out weight the short sighted 'If their in love, let them be married.' attitude.
Hope this helps.

1. Biological incompatibility. Even dogs figure that out.
2. Weakness of character. It's just as easy to fall in love with a person of the opposite sex and with one of the same sex. It is a decision. Just like cheating on a wife or husband - it is a choice. We are all given free will, so stick with tradition. It grew from nothing into a tradition for a GOOD reason... not for a bad one.
3. Sin. It is an abomination. It breaks the real law of mankind.
Generally I am against it because I do not feel it is a step forward for society.

It depend how you define a gay marriage.
Nothing is wrong with 2 consenting adults to form a relation. And they should be entitled to same rights and privileges as homosexual couple. But there is an inherited difference between man and woman and the unity they become during the marriage and process of reproduction.

I wish you close minded people would stop using the same pathetic excuse.........The Bible. Way to go on using a possibly fictitious book. Maybe use some concrete reasons why it shouldn't happen. Remember one of the 10 commandments, love thy neighbor. Do unto others as you would like them do unto you. Doesn't sound like all you bible beaters practice it very well. I guess the world will come crumbling down if someone different than you actually gets the same rights as you. Remember back in the day when there was this little thing called slavery. Everyone thought it was terrible and against god's will to free the "colord's" , just another point in case of where America is afraid of change in the right direction. Open your minds people and respect life and other peoples opinions.

Marriage is just a term now-a-days. It is much less a religious and spritual ceremony than it is a reason for the governments to get involved. The only reason gay people want marriage is to have the same rights the governments afford straight married couples. Since the governments got involved, this is no longer a religious debate. The separation of Church and State is defunct. There are newer religions and older religions who have incorporated the acceptance of marrying gay couples in order to keep a larger that previously thought section of their congregation.
You may notice that many of the various religions (especially Catholisism) have faced horrible demons of their own as their priests have been found to have commited child abuse in the form of fondling, oral, anal, frottage and alternate forms of sexual contact with the under 18 congregation. Male priests found to have joined the order who are gay and have been engagin in homosexual acts for years. Blasphemous, no?
But to say that gay male couples or female gay couples have any less right to be on this earth is arrogant at best. It might one day be possible to convince all the worlds governments that the word marriage is outdated and everyone will go by a new term (let's call it a Goode Union) and that the rights should be applied to every adult, not just those that fit into the religious male/female relationship qualification. Again, this is no longer a religious union except in a historical context.
To Chase;
There are so many things I would like to say and explain to you, but I feel, sadly, that you are too involved in your religion to listen and accept that there are other possibilities.
Homosexuality is doled out by your God. The bible also indicates that some people are given especially difficult hardships as a test of their faith.
Homosexuality is not a sin. As far as the Bible dictates, the ACT of homosexuality may be a sin, but being one is not. Jesus showed immense compasion for Mary Magdaline. He forgave all sinners he came across. I find it incredibly self richeous of you to presume to tell others how to live their lives. Did not a quate also appear in your Bible, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!"? Hmmm? People do not *choose* to be homosexual. They very well may choose to accept the way God made them, but no child chooses to be an outcast, singled out, alone in the world, and become so depressed he/she ends up suicidal because he/she cannot cope with the huge secret that would have family and friends excommunicate him/her.
Please think about and choose your words much more carefully and with consideration and compassion next time?
Remember: WWJD?

it is a stressful question, yet i will supply it a shot. in this u . s . we strive to have a seperation of church and state, so the governement can no longer tell the church what to do and the church can no longer tell the government what to do. A civil marriage is marriage accomplished by potential of a Justice of the Peace (government offical) and should no longer be bared from marrying any 2 those which would be discrimination which the regulation seems down on. Please observe that this style of marriage by potential of a few religions isn't referred to as valid and subsequently the certainly everyone continues to be residing in sin. As for marriages interior the church the state has no authority to impose their perspectives on ignorant close-minded butt-heads. So I help gay marriages in civil amenities and any faith it is keen enable them to marry. I additionally help a faith no longer being forced by potential of the state to alter their ideals (no longer remember how stupid and close minded they're). As for Bible arguments: THE DICTIONARY defines MARRIAGE:a million a (a million) : the state of being united to a individual of the different intercourse as husband or spouse in a consensual and contractual relationship known by potential of regulation (2) : the state of being united to a individual of an identical intercourse in a relationship like that of a time-honored marriage. did no longer God supply humanity the present of loose will. Now who is going to spit in God's eye and attempt and take that faraway from certainly everyone? stable certainly everyone seems to be stable through fact they decide for to be. If there is no determination is everyone stable?

I am against gay marriage if one beats another one, they don't really love each other, and one emotionally mistreats the other. Basically all the reasons i am against straight marriage. Gay people can get married, it doesn't matter what they do. They have their thing, i have mine. What does it hurt?

There is no need to explain 3 reasons, since there is only one.
The Bible!
If homosexuals want to marry, fine let them they deserve it, but not married by a member of the clergy, only civil unions, this should give them the same benefits and rights as the rest of society. God will not bless a homosexual union, according to my religious beliefs. But civil unions, that seems fine.

I am against gay marriage because it goes against God's world. God made a man and a woman to be together.
Before we look at gay marriage / same sex marriage, first we have to remember what the Bible says about homosexuality. The Bible clearly and consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). God does not create a person with homosexual desires. A person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of his or her own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for them to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.
We also have to remember that homosexuality is just as forgivable a sin as all other sins. God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God’s love and desire to save extends to homosexuals (John 3:16; Romans 5:8). God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
To give sanction to homosexual marriage would be to give approval to that lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. I believe that Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay marriage / same sex marriage. Marriage is ordained by God to be between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:21-24; Matthew 19:4-6). Homosexual marriage is a perversion of the institution of marriage and an offense to the God who created marriage. God forbids and condemns homosexuality, so He clearly is opposed to homosexual marriage. As Christians, we are to seek to share the love of God and salvation through Christ with homosexuals. We are to be loving and kind to homosexuals, while at the same time not condoning their sinful lifestyle.
