what am I not doing right?

You don't have to be sore. You just have to do a workout that challenges you... when you get done you want to feel tired and "well-exercised" but not exhausted or in pain.

If it'll really make you feel better to be sore you can certainly do it by adding weights, increasing the exercise time or intensity, or stretching beyond your norm, but it's by no means required.

You aren't challenging yourself enough. Next time, up the weights a few pounds. I have been working out for a long time and I still get sore every now and then, especially when I increase my weights or my reps.

you don't have to be sore. just make sure it's reasonably hard for you. and that's hard to explain. if you want, i can give you a bench press technique that you do 6 days a week, takes 5 minutes, and will build ''power muscles'' not just red muscle fibres. you'll leave all those other bench pressin' fools in your dust.
