No workmans compensation is for people who are injured physically on the job. Your chest pains do not fall under the national guidelines for workmans comp. If you would have refused to go to the hospital that would be a different story.

The same thing happened to me about 4 months ago. I had chest pains and the ambulance was called and said I should go to the hospital. So I did. Now I'm stuck with a hospital bill ($5000.00) and an ambulance bill ($1000.00), and this was after my insurance paid their part. My company only carries SUPPLEMENTAL insurance. What a JOKE!!!!!!!!. They didn't file workmans comp. so I had NO help from them. My Dr. said I should get another job and get off my feet, Who is going paid for my training ???
I'm going to see a attorney next week for this and I also have Tarsal Tunnel in my ankle (it's the same as carpal tunnel but in the ankles) and have to have surgery. I have to prove it was work related for both cases .After some searching on the internet, I think I'm headed down a looooong road.
So I know what your going through and it's NOT fun. I have $20,000.00 in medical bills right now and if the attorney can't help me, I will have to file bankruptcy. What a world we live in when a company/government
don't take care of the working people. Maybe I should just go on welfare and have everything taking care of and I don't have to WORK to get it!! That's funny, Not !
Also an ambulance is not Free unless you have extremely good health insurance coverage. If you can take yourself or have someone else take you to the hospital, Do It! The ride is not worth it.
Good luck to you and don' get old. (my mom's phase)

The only way workman's comp will pay the bill is if your job caused the chest pains.

You would have to submit a claim for workmans comp. It isn't automatic. Be careful though, because you will have to PROVE that the chest pains were caused BY work.

Your regular health insurance covers the abulance bill. It is free for an ambulance to treat you on the scene, but if they have to transport you, you have to pay.

Ask your human resources or personnel person. That would be a drag to have to pay for that, but I guess they were looking out for you and covering their own rears too. Glad nothing was truly wrong.
