I concur. Wasting? By taking it and dumping it into the ocean, wasting? The "Affect" would be a nasty oil slick that would be depressing to see. If you REALLY feel that you need to do something, buy a smaller more fuel efficient/economical machine, or better yet, walk!

You are not wasting coal when it is consumed for electricity or heating purposes. How absurd! This resource has been around for hundreds of years and provided our forefathers with much needed energy. We can conserve energy and therefore cut back on our consumption of coal or use alternative resources to produce our electricity, but each one seems to have it's pros and cons. You need to explain your definition of wasting. Thanks

Using coal produces heat and pollution (global warming). Water power (hydroelectric) is better but not good because you have to disrupt water's natural flow to do it (dams, etc.). Wind power or solar power are probably better alternatives. Nuclear power has advantages, but perceived disadvantages (dangers).

It doesn't, young lady. New coal is being made every day, as is oil. Use it with abandon. The real problem is illiteracy.
