Sorry hunny, there is no other way. It is uncomfortable for sure, no - one enjoys it. In my doctors we go to a room with a skylight for a smear, I dread a helicopter flying over!!
My mum had a smear which detected cervical cancer early enough for it to be treated - she just got the all clear. I'm not trying to scare you but you might end up a lot more uncomfortable if you don't go and something goes wrong.
Be brave, all us yahoo anwerettes will back you all the way!!

Just remember the doctor performing this procedure has done it several times and he/she has seen so many hoo-has, they won't remember yours five minutes after you're gone. It is nothing to be nervous about. Sure, it's not the most comfortable thing in the world to have done, but it's better for your health to get it. Annual Pap smears are one of the best ways to screen for HPV and cervical cancer, as well as other vaginal diseases/problems. Get it done, it will be over before you know it, and you won't have to get another one till next year!
You sound pretty young, why don't you have your parent/guardian in the room with you when you have this done? That's what I did my first time, and I felt a whole lot more secure. And no, they cannot put you to sleep for a Pap smear.

I'll be honest with you, I am PETRIFIED of the damn things but they have to be done. My first one was an awful experience and felt more like abuse and even now i want to cry every time i go to get it done and i'm 32! I've managed to get thru it by talking excessively and each time i have it done i tell the nurse what a crappy time i had before and how nervous i am. if they know this they will talk you thru it and take your mind off it as best you can.
Go along, tell the nurse your fears beforehand and you might be surprised. its gets easier each time. its not pleasant but it is essential for your health. good luck.

i'm in Scotland too and function had 2 smear assessments the two got here decrease back ok - I continually save up as much as now with them, whether you do circulate away your dignity on the door yet they are so properly worth it interior the long-term. I do think of the age could be diminished in England to the comparable as Scotland, Jade Goody has introduced cervical maximum cancers into the frequent public eye and made women folk extra conscious of what can ensue in case you do no longer choose for cervical smears. that's totally unhappy that Jade died so youthful and left 2 captivating boys in the back of with out their mom yet she has finished lots for women folk touching directly to this particularly situations taboo difficulty, because of the fact as you reported all of us thinks "that's going to by no capability ensue to me". xxx
