Are using your professions a necessity in World of Warcraft?

I'm in level 20 and I haven't even used my skills at all (mining and blacksmithing).

Are they really needed in the game? Or can you go on to deeper levels without them?

Professions are good for making money and making weapons, armor, potions, trinkets, etc. They are not needed but they help. You can get to 60 without them.

yes!!! you can use your profession to make cash!! when you get to level 30 something as a rogue i think you can scale dragons and sell the scales one gold each i mean level 30 skinning
