For a 15 year old to go into walmart or target and purchase a $130 portable dvd player with cash without thier parents being there? Would an employee ask for them?

It depends - it does seem odd but then again I started working when I was only 10 (delivered papers after school and in the morning - not one of those child labor camps).I had hundreds by the age of 11.

Also the parents may be very generous with the child's allowance or the money is for a gift for a sibling or friend that the parents have given money for.

Then again the child could be an entrepreneur and raking in the money through selling lemonade etc.

Then again the kid could have gotten the money through illegal methods.

In the end you can just ask the kid. They may have found an easy and legal way to make money that anyone can do!

Not that I recommend delivering papers - I hated that job but it got me the money I wanted ;)
