I have a good idea, instead of paying them any money, work out how much coke,heroin etc that we owe them and inject the lot in one go that should sort out their problem and as a taxpayer I would be happy too...,,,

It shows how corrupt the legal system has become. We have a government that is so scared to do anything to protect its citizens. The first rule of government. 9 out of 10 people who end up in jail deserve to be there. We would not pay knowingly for their drugs on the outside why should we if they are in jail. The system is soft it will do anything for the criminal and little for the victim. yes I can believe any Blair government decree that destroys the moral standing of this once great country.

Jail sentences and the whole justice system is a complete joke. It must be a complete kick in the teeth for all the people out there that were victims of these criminals. What about compensation for them?

yes i can believe it, it is the way the justice system is now. think it all started when there became such thing as criminals rights, WTF, if they are prepared to commit a crime, they have to be ready for the punishment and consquences. It is no secret drug abuse is not tolorated in prison, so duh. if they want to use drugs, stay out of prison.
Not to mention that class A drug abuse is against the law. no the law is paying them for not taking drugs. ..... nope, i tried to reason with it and can't make sense from that one.
Why don't the government just miss the middle bit out and pay criminals instead of sending them to prison. not funny, i wouldn't be surprised if some fool in office has already suggested it.
To add absolute insult to this, it will be paid from the tax payers money... show me one tax payer that approves of this course of action!
The world has gone mad. think it might be time for someone to press that the self destruct button before it gets any worse

The whole system is absolutely crazy!!,the laws bend backwards to help the criminals,no wonder the ordinary people of this country are disillusioned

Yes! I would believe ANYTHING in this country!! One things for sure,CRIME DOES PAY!!!! Perhaps we should all become criminals, and join the get rich quick scheme!!!

Be honest, does anything surprise you about this country anymore. Decent, honest people get a rough deal while child molesters, druggies, rapists, murderers have more rights than their victims. Where's it all going to end?

WHY NOT TAKE THE MONEY STRAIGHT FROM THE COURT AND PAY TO THE PRISON SERVICE, WHILST THEY WERE IN TO PAY TOWARDS THE FOOD AND OTHER COMFORTS THEY HAD ,THAT WE THE BLOODY TAXPAYERS PAID TO KEEP THEM .
