I have been wasting my time here at work, looking up hundreds of answers about drugs and it looks like so many Americans feel as if you do one drug one time, it effects you for the rest of your life. What happened to the drug users of the 70's that knew when enough was enough? It seems like we lost our drug culture to battles over money and fame... WAKE UP! It's unbelievable how many idiots think that drugs will kill you. I have done over 55 different types of drugs, yet still am able to maintain a healthy body, active sex life, steady job, mortgage, etc etc etc. So what if people get high every now and then?? Let's hear some opinions that don't sound like Mr. Mackey from South Park, m'kay?

Let me reiterate that we're talking about drug USE, not drug ABUSE... Big difference there, folks... And another thing is that, sure, I've done a lot of drugs, but never will I touch the deadly three (i.e. Crack, Heroin, and PCP [pure]). I'm smart and experimental, and not asking for personal experience, but opinions on why people have answered this question with attitude that what I'm doing is wrong. And it's not a matter of growing up, it's a matter of living free.

Once more, let me tell these r-tards something: I am from America, born and raised. I am a published writer by night and a mortgage broker by day. I mostly write opinions and satirical humor on today's society. I do drugs. I smoke pot. I have smoked crystal meth once before. I have taken acid, psylocibin mushrooms, cocaine, MDMA (aka molly), every pot from beasters to hedi's to Jack Herer's to Hashish, opium, Adrenochrome, various methanphetamines, codine, oxycontins, a plethora of Rx's, and probably more things that I can't remember right now because I'm all strung out from last night. You probably would not even realize it by looking at me, but most likely, you've read my work.... of course, anonymity is key here..

Mr Steve, we are ignorant about the ways of drugs compared to other countries. It is illegal to even smoke pot here! But we are probably similar in the way that we are curious and at some time most of us experiment- the difference is where/how you can get product here...then, it might be something bad, don't know till its too late oftentimes, sometimes kids overdose and their friends just drop them off somewhere instead of the hospital out of fear, kids come up with new stupid things to try to get high on...and die for it and on and on
the war on drugs here doesn't seem to be working ;considering how much prison space non violent drug offenders are taking up and cemetery space innocent people occupy
the government doesn't rehabilitate prisoners so much as they warehouse them
and most places of employment that are worth working at require you to pass a drug screen
now can you see where the problem lies?
p.s. most of the 70's druggies are dead, except the potheads...its rare to see old junkies...they don't live near as long

I think ignorance is bliss in this case, for most people. I think you should add meth to your "big three". It has killed many of my friends and almost killed me. I am not totally anti-drug now, but I am an addict and know I can't touch them. What other people do is up to them.
My drug use started out as "every now and then" for the first seven years. The last two and a half were hell. I know everyone is not an addict. I sometimes envy people who can get high every once in a while, but then I remember that it is as if I am allergic to drugs.
Addiction runs in families and it runs in mine. I had no business experimenting with "hard drugs". It is like Russian roulette- we never know if we are an addict until we pull the trigger a few times. Hopefully we will find out before our brain is blown to bits.
I am for the legalizing of weed but I still will not smoke it. Even though alcohol is legal I won't drink it. But, I do not judge people who do.
Also, drugs today are SO much more addictive, potent, harmful and deadly than they were in the 70's. I have no regrets and now I know that life can be wonderful without them.

It is my opinion that the US Government has no place restricting free trade amongst it's citizens. Therefore drugs should be legal and available to those who want them.
If after a long day at the office or factory if I want to go out in my backyard and smoke a joint, then that is my right as a free citizen. On the other extreme, if a person is doing heroin every day, then that person will lose their job and will eventually die young. These are the consequences of personal responsibility. Who am I to say that they should not do that? Supposedly they are 'free' citizens and so long as they are not hurting anybody but themeselves, then there should be no law against it.
Not everybody is ignorant. Most of them are just afraid of the unknown.

m'kay, remember, most Americans go with what they are told, instead of researching it themselves, they trust the government,so if the government says its true then it must be,i on the other hand think marijuana should be legal, there is NOTHING on the books that proves it is a dangerous drug, most prescribed drugs have far worse side effects and long term effects than marijuana, and how to make an herb that grows out the ground illegal?because drug companies cant duplicate it and get rich off of it........(marinol is synthetic)like they have most opiates because opiates have a base that can be manufactured and mixed.marijuana will not kill you,it will make you hungry and sleepy after the climax.people deserve to get high, life sucks!but using meth and heroin and hard drugs(drugs that are used when you have nothing to loose, well those do have severe long term effects and should continue to be illegal and only dispensed by a doctor.

ZSSSSSt. I think your brain is shorting out. I too have done multitudes of drugs myself. I grew up and only smoke weed and drink occasionally now. I am healthy as well. The only reason you are is because you used only on an experimental basis. Try injecting heroin, or coke, or meth in your body EVERY day and lets see how you look. No teeth, weigh 85lbs, twitch & ****. I have studdied all of the drugs as well and could draw out the diagrams of the elements and explain how your brain transmits or doesnt transmit signals do t o that crap. So get real pal drugs do kill most kinds slowly. Who wants to live a life a slave to an addiction. I would rather die. If you had inner peace you wouldn't need to fill the void in you with that poison. Have a nice sober day.

for starters some one needs to tell some of the hippies in Berkeley that there not supposed to be rich, they did way to many drugs in the 60's, oh wait they haven't stopped yet. if you have a dependent personality, or you party to forget your problems, you're going to have a hard time maintaining. for the rest of us that party just to party, well thanks to the weak people for making it harder for us to do so. everything in moderation. i too have a good job, family, friends and health. as a country we have a list of groups that are constantly blamed and attacked for the country not being what it should be, let's see smokers, minorities, gays (not lesbians, i don't know why gays are less tolerated), potheads( meth seems to be ok, but pot, no way) it makes the truly mind F*U*C*K ed think that they're "ok" and they get to label groups as "bad". I've done my part as a good citizen, raised a decent family and things are good enough to help other members in my family. guess what ? i party when ever i feel like it. piss on anyone that has a problem with it (there might be a minor fee for the pissing thing, sorry)

I agree with you, for the most part. I don't think hard drugs like meth and heroin have any good purpose. BUT, I've been smoking weed since I was 14, over 30 years ago - regularly, though, for about the last 20 years. I am more against alcohol than pot! How many accidents or fist fights are caused by a pot smoker? And why do ya think the Indians were so cool? They smoked weed! And the cowboys were so rowdy? Because they were always drunk! I proudly do not drink any alcohol, but smoke weed regularly!

Gee, where to start...
Firstly, beginning your question by stating that a significant part of the readership of this forum are totally ignorant about the subject matter implies that you are not really looking for an answer, but rather more interested in making a statement.
Secondly, as a "child of the 70's" I have known more than one person who has, in fact, totally destroyed their lives as a direct result of recreational drugs. Among them, at least two are dead as a direct result of drug misuse, and several more steadly progressed to stronger drugs in the never ending search for a better high and when I last saw them they were your basic looser burnouts more interested in getting tosted than in anything else (rather sad since most of them were bright high potential kids when we were in high school).
Thirdly, have you ever stopped to consider that your feelings of invencibility are the result of the false euphoria caused by substance abuse? Caution: It is this very feeling of invencibility that leads down the road to addiction. It is quite a vicious trap, for once one realizes that there is a problem it is often very late in the game. As mentioned above, I have watched this happen to more than one friend and as I said, it's rather sad.
You are quite correct that doing drugs doesn't kill you (most of the time). Quite the contrary, they make you feel wonderful. That is, in fact, the whole trap. Many of those drugs that make you feel so good carry with them the possibility of physical addiction. You wind up taking them repeatedly because they make you feel good but before you realize it you have to take them just to feel normal and you have to take even more to get the same buzz.
Evil Knievel (The 1970's dare devil) put it rather well. Doing drugs is kind of like running an engine on nitro. For short periods of time it will make it run like a bat out of hell, but in the end it will burn it up.
I'm glad to hear that you are doing OK in spite of your recreational drug use. It is my sincerest hope that you do not allow your affinity for getting tosted to ruin what sounds like a very comfortable lifestyle.

the final public of marijuana fed on in u.s. comes from the U. S.: 40 5%-u . s . a ., 40% Mexico, 5% Canada, 10% different countries. And the only reason drug cartels are being funded is by technique of the fact drugs are unlawful and that they are opportunists who see its value. And American tobacco products kill greater Colombians than Colombian cocaine products kill individuals. If anyone ought to sense accountable it would be RJ-Reynolds and the different vast Tobacco businesses that sell products that are quickly linked with the deaths of greater desirable than 440,000 individuals each and each year. purely something to think of approximately
