This is basically a true story, a true quandary. I have little proof of what I'm about to describe, but I fully believe it. I have discovered that the father of a very famous adult person has a secret love child, now adult. The father doesn't know of the existence of this illegitimate child. The love child does not know that he or she has a famous sibling. Life hasn't treated me too well in recent years, and so I wonder if I should profit from my knowledge.

I believe that the love child wants to know his or her father. I seem to have various choices. I could forget the whole thing. I could help put the love child in touch with the father. I could tell the (quite local) family of the existence of the love child. I could sell my story to a newspaper. I would consider myself an ethical person, but the money would be nice. The story would probably make the front page of every newspaper in the Western world, such is the stature of the famous person. I would be grateful for any suggestions

If you release this information, you may get a lot of unwanted attention - you know how the media is. You should really weigh the pros and cons before you unleash your bit of info.

I dunno, this is a tough one. Sounds like you are being blinded by the possibility of getting PAID! I don't blaim you, seems like everyones going through some hard times, financially. You know karma is a B* and what goes around might come aruond. Being that you are not having the best of luck, do you think you should be pushing karma? Plus theres no proof, unless they go for a parternity test. How the heck did you find this out? Maybe you should have been a reporter, lol. Anyways, good luck with whatever you decide. I personally would not go to the papers without proof, so maybe try to connect them first and see how it goes from there.

Honestly, I didn't even read all you'd written. Why would you be motivated to tell something about someone to a reporter? The only answer I can conclude is money -- and maybe 5 seconds of fame.
Look, I was once in a bar fight with a Hollywood tough guy star. Big deal. It's one of those reflect back and smile deals. What benefit is it for me to "Tell All?" Nothing for him I assure you. I don't want fame, and certainly not his money. It was a "Good time," and that was that. But man, we sure tore the place up and dished it out!!!

I think you should have hardcore proof of the evidence before you do anything! I also think you should keep it private from the news stands; If you know who this love child is, help them out personally; figure things out together before you change their (love child and father) lives completely. You may not fully understand the effect this news may have on many people involved. :S

You believe the person would like to know his or her father?

What if he or she is living happily not knowing anything?

I think you should accept, that your only reason for doing this, is the money. Now you should ask yourself the question, how would you feel if somebody leaked a deep secret of your to a newspaper for no other reason than personal gain.

Then you will know the answer to your question. It is one only you can answer, because it depends on your situation and your view of life.

when faced with this sort of question I always ask myself: "Who will I hurt with this information? Who will be helped?" If the help outweighs the hurt - go for it.
