Sleep in another room or deal with the snoring. You cannot 'get rid' of someone for snoring, they cannot help it.

Snoring CAN be related to weight gain, but many slender people snore as well. There may be a genetic component.

Snoring can be a symptom of a very serious disorder called sleep apnea, which can, if untreated, lead to heart damage and even death.

If you snore softly once in a while, then this is probably not apnea, but if you shake the house, snore like a bear, and drive your partner to the guest bedroom, then apnea is a distinct probability. Sounds like your partner is in the second group, so s/he needs medical help, not poking, smothering, or kicking!

Apnea is usually treated with the use of a device called a CPAP. A snorer can't just buy one of these - they are sold only on prescription, as the pressure needs to be adjusted to his individual needs, with too high pressure being as dangerous as too low. CPAP stops snoring 100% and usually makes the patient feel generally more energetic and alert during the day as well.

Please get him/her to ask the doctor for a referral to a sleep clinic right away. They usually have a long waiting list, and it's important to get the process started ASAP.

Do you really want to get rid of this partner or the snoring? Snoring in most cases is caused from Sleep Apnea. It's a common problem. Have your partner see the doctor & ask for a sleep study. They can then decide what needs to be done. Alot of times they'll get a CPAP machine to help keep the airways open while sleeping, thus relieving the snoring.

I hope you mean get rid of the snoring & not the partner cuz he snores. They have nasal breath right strips to open the nasal cavaties. Or try sleeping in another bed on nights he's keeping you awake. Sorry 'bout that.

A gun?

Actually what the person who is snoring can do is try to sleep in different positions. (Like raising the head slightly or something.) I snore from time to time and I've found that if I fall asleep in certain positions, I snore less.

The person can also talk to their doctor about it. Do they smoke? If so, that can be a cause of a build up of mucus. (is that spelled right?)

You can try ear plugs as well...

I'm trying to figure out how to stop the snoring ... not get rid of him ... lol ... my man snores & kicks & talks & elbows me in the head ... you name it he's done it ... the only thing that ever works for me is if I sleep in the other room ... I'm tired of waking up in the middle of the night to role him over or kick a shin or two ... I feel bad for waking him up ... but feel even worse because I didn't get any sleep ... hope there's a cure soon ... I'm ready to strap a tennis ball to his back so he can't role over ... lol ... maybe that will work ... good luck with the answers ... !

Get them to see a doctor, could be sleep apnea. If all else fails, sleep in a different room. My husband snores, and we've been sleeping in separate rooms for the last few months.

Get your partner to a sleep clinic. My husband snored terribly, and it is a medical problem called sleep apnea. It can be extremely serious. If you are just tired of your partner, and this is a silly question, fine, but if you concerned for their welfare, please get them help because this can be deadly!
