I think the fact that you can't bring toiletries and food on planes was an elaborate scam by the food and cosmetic industries to make us buy more of these items we have to throw away before boarding. Then after we throw out our perfumes and colognes they recycle them and sell them back to us!
*I don't really think this, but the fact crossed my mind when I had my cologne confiscated at the airport and I had to buy a new one ($40...damn)
Honestly this is such a great question.
