My boss told me yesterday that I am next in line for a promotion for a managers position. But he said that they only way that I will receive it is if I come to his office after work and give a pedicure and other special favors. He insists that this is standard procedure for anyone seeking a managers procedure. Should I do this? Help please I really need this job

If you are not working in a nail salon, then this is wrong on many levels. First of all, you should ask other managers if they gave your boss a pedicure, if he insists that this is standard procedure. That will be interesting if they happen to say yes! You can either approach someone else for a promotion (i.e. your boss's boss) or just quit and find another job. You can also seek legal counsel, depending on what the other "special favors" are.

If you are working in a nail salon and decide to do this because it shows your pedicure skills, you should be going to his office during work, not after work.

No this isn't right!! You need to file a complaint against him with the company because this is harassment. And if the "special favors" has anything to do with sex, that's sexual harassment. And for the record you don't have to give him a pedicure or do special favors to get the promotion. You don't have to sell your dignity to get this job!

hell No?he is a bully. anyways would you be really happy in manager position knowing that you got it only because you gave your boss a pedicure and not because of your skills and knowledge. and if you do this, than he might ask you to do other weird stuff for him, in order so you dont loose the manager position.

That's pathetic. You need to turn him in, call his bosses & tell them what's going on. Your boss should be fired. Don't do this stuff that your boss is asking - you'll just look like a desperate low life. You can always find a different job if need be.

My advice is to show up at his office with a chainsaw, and offer to do the pedicure. That should get him to back off. Of course I'm from Detroit, and we do things a bit differently there...

Unless you're a Nail Tech and he wants to see your technique, then no it's not normal. If you are, don't go alone. Say your friend drove you, helped carry what you needed to do a good job, whatever. Otherwise, Take a tape recorder and sue the prick for half the business.

You shouldn't need to ask that question here to know that it's not right. I'd be making some new friends at the Dept of Labor. Your boss is a PIG!

Pervert. If you do it, you're letting him control you and demean you. This is abuse of power. Quit and find another job. No job is worth being demeaned and abused. Plus, feet? I'd rather do the nasty than touch somebody's rotten feet!

That's all you have to do? I hear at Starbucks, to make Barista, you have to give the regional manager an enema.

Consider yourself lucky....
