It's your mail too, you dork. WE...being the key word here.
Put a letter opener in it and slit it open like you have every right to do. If your husband has an issue with you opening up mail that belongs to you, then use the letter opener on him too...

If you steam it open, be very careful. Some papers curl and wrinkle so even if you reglue it shut, it will appear to have been opened. Also, if the envelope was sealed with a self-stick strip, steaming won't work. It only loosens the type of glue that you have to lick. If it is the self stick closure, you will have to carefully open the seams that either run along the sides or those forming a V on the back. Steam may work on those, but a letter opener or pairing knife will work, too. Finally, use only stick glue (not a liquid type) to reseal it because it will give a smooth seal and won't wrinkle the paper.

Lastly . . . you will probably find out stuff that you did not need to know yet, if you DO open his mail.
There is a phrase "You will find out what you need to know WHEN you need to know it" and that means without you doing anything illegal or odd to get the info.
Trust me. It is better to wait and see than to snoop and find out. You two seem to have trust issues. Talk to your husband before opening the letter. I cannot believe these people who say "steam it open". If you are doubting your husband's business, talk to him about it! Think what you would feel if he steamed open YOUR mail??

IGNORE WHAT EVERYONE ELSE JUST SAID!!!!
Using a sharp, thin knife, open the envelope on the side. Read/look at whatever is inside, replace contents into envelope, and glue it closed again.
Why will this work?? When your husband eventually opens the letter, he wont scrutinise the side of the envelope. He'll simply glance at the seal, see that its not been tampered with, and rip it open.
Trust me, this will work.

Just a thought - - If "we" means it's addressed to you both, then any of the answers using steam will work. But, if "we" means it's addressed to only him you'll be breaking a federal law opening it and in case of a really, really ugly divorce and he finds out you've opened it you might have a bad federal problem. Of course, proving you opened it could be a problem for him.

Just open it. If he is your husband, then you have the right to open his mail, he shouldnt be keeping anything from you. If he gets upset, just tell him it was an accident, you thought it was for you until you opened it.

I want to open a piece of mail that "WE" have gotten?
Don't you mean He? Because if it were sent to both of you then you have every right to open it.
What tangled webs we weave. Already you are deceiving your husband. Is that anyway to have a good marriage?
What's next wiretaps?

depending on how it's sealed. take the flap part and slide something sharp underneath it, like, really sharp, otherwise it'll rip the paper. if it's sealed really well though then you probably shouldn't open it, unless you want to just put it in a new envelope and write all the stuff on it again but then it wont be postmarked.

Put a towel on the letter and then use a steam iron to soften the glue. When you reseal it, you can always add a little elmers glue to it if it need it.
