In response to stickit2theman: Chipotle is owned by McDonalds, so you probably want to avoid them, too. In N Out I believe is still the only joint that's family owned, so they're good. :-)
Sonia:
In a nutshell: McD's (and perhaps many other fast food places) have high fat content, clog your arteries, make people obese, have contracts with the meat industry who exploit their workers, mistreat animals (feed cats, dogs and chickens to the cows that become hamburgers), dip their fries in beef tallow (beef fat) and finally -- there is, scientifically -- fecal material in the meat.
Enjoy your next quarter pounder.

I don't know what's in that food, but it's got you buggin for real, did you watch the movie Super Size Me where that guy ate nothing, but McDonalds for 30 days and gained nearly 40 pounds. That food has been a major player in the obesity problem that has America in it's grip. That food has more fat and calories than a Subway sandwich. I've seen skinny people pack weight on eating McDonalds and what's worse that stuff will do a number on your face. I used to love their food until it started making me sick and breaking my face out like a bad order at Pizza Hut. Subway is by far the more healthier choice and you can option out the Oils and Mayo, but their food is fresh, not deep fried like McDonalds who uses a particular kind of cooking oil that's not even meant for deep fry cooking and that's because it's easier to clean when they empty the fryers after a days worth frying fries, chicken mcNuggets and Fish fillets. If I were you I would see how your weight reflects eating there and then come back and let us know if you're still the same weight or you've packed on a few pounds. I will choose Subway over McD's any day since it's healthier for you. Plus McDonalds hamburgers are not 100% beef like Wendy's and BK they use half beef and half textured vegetable protein(soy meat) As the slogan goes Subway Eat Fresh.

Good question. I've known several people that complained about McDonald's.
1. I had a neighbor that said only kids (or parents with kids) eat there. I've been in McDonald's more than once and seen very few people there with kids (not all the time, but on several occasions).
2. "Supersize Me". Sorry, anyone who eats at any fast food place constantly for thirty days is stupid. What I saw of it (which wasn't all of it) made me think the guy had a grudge against the place to begin with.
3. Fattening food. OK, McDonald's isn't the healthiest place to eat, but I saw an article in the paper about a year ago talking about non-fast food restaurants. Much of their food is WORSE than McDonald's. Some of these places' food (I don't remember the specific retaurants they mentioned) had twice as many calories and twice as much fat as McDonald's. I also knew a lady where I used to work who thought they should be banned because they didn't have salads (no joke). She was shocked when I told here they'd had salads for years.

This is why people pick on McDonald's, The fat that is used for the french fies could be changed to oil with no trans fats, and the salt should be omitted on th french fries. (the salt can be added if one wishes ) What is being used now is very bad for ones health, that is not to say that it does not taste good, but that is why a lot of us must avoid it. And of course a leaner cut of beef such as ground sirloin should be available as well. I do like the Hamburger and fries, in order to get something healthier, I must make it at home.

Ok one slice of Mcdonalds cheese, contains 50% of the average person's daily salt intake for the whole day. So if you have a double cheeseburger, thats a whole daily dose of salt. And that's just one small example. Michael Moore is releasing a new move out fast food, should be pretty shocking. There is a reason why some things only cost a dollar...

McDonald's is a cruel place. all it is, is comfort food. if you go to Subway (which i really don't like anyway, a good home cooked meal is better) try and get things with out any mayo and oil and stuff like that. when I do go i get the veggie with no oil mayo mustard or anything no cheese just veggies. try it it's good.

I really like McDonalds (but I like Subway a little bit more because you have control of what you eat). Sometimes people hate McDonalds because they have had bad experiences which might not always happen at all of them. I detest my closest McDonalds. I think they make the sandwiches sloppily and they can be gross. So that plays into it also.

Quite stereo-typical, are we not; using terms like "Everybody," is dangerous. Over 6 Billion People on the Planet, and most have never even seen a McDonald's. So what is your real gripe? If you Like Mickey D's enjoy, Even though their burgers have been shrinking for over twenty years. The world's Nutritionists are griping about "Trans-fats" which are still used by many fast food manufacturers. They are trying to ensure you live longer, to enjoy more McDonald's; so be happy about the noise!
Just for the record, I despise "Subway" their submarines suck!

for one thing, mcdonalds practices factory farming. they raise a cow in a cage just large enough for it to stand in and thats it. the cow cant even turn around.
second of all, mcdonalds is one of the leading causes of obesity. mcdonalds food has all the addicitng components (meat, fat, sugar, cheese, etc.) and therefore people want to eat it more. worst of all, eating it more is very easy because mcdonalds' are everywhere.
and yes i do believe subway is a little overrated, but mcdonalds is acutally one of the worst franchises in food industry eveer. if u live in califronia, go to In N' Out. if u live anywhere else, try chipolte or white castle.

They are changing their menu for a reason, the food for the most part ARE unhealthy and loaded with saturated fats. Not much out there in the way of fast food that isn't filled with fat & chemicals sadly.
