Usually happens within 2 days. I dont think there is a danger in not having baby born in 24 hours. I had mine done and about 10 hours later had my son (they ended up breaking my water too!) I found a link that might help you

Good luck and Congratulations I hope your labor goes fast and easy

Unfortunately, sweeping membranes doesn't guarantee the onset of labor. My doctor swept mine and I still had to be induced two weeks later.
Sure fire kick start, however-only do if you are packed and ready with your ride to the hospital-is stimulate your nipples (or have other half do it for you). It makes your body release oxytocin, which triggers contractions. Drs don't advocate this because it can cause hard, fast labors.
Worked for my second:}.
Aloha and good luck!!!!

My ob stripped my membranes about a week before I was due. I was 11 days late. She was born a happy healthy baby is is now a smart, happy, healthy 17 month old .

I lost my mucus plug last night and this is my first pregnancy. I'm 37 weeks 3 days today. Last Thursday I was 1cm dilated and have an appointment with my OB on Thursday so we'll see how far I'm dilated.

Good Luck!

the only bad thing is the fact that the plug helps keep infection out of the uterus.... but im sure they went through all that with you... you should be alright, ive heard of most women going into labor with 48 hours of having that done... so, i would say PREPARE
or call your nurse and see what she says, im not sure its dangerous but better safe then sorry, im surprised they didnt tell you when they did it. but anyhow, CONGRATS!!!!
