Not including the kids. I'd like to figure out what I can do/make/buy for my brother, in-laws (who are all in their 20s), friends, etc. I'm open for anything EXCEPT gift cards. What can I do that would be under $20 per person? Stocking stuffer ideas, crafts, etc. are all welcomed. I'd like to hear other people's opinion. =) Thanks!

Gosh, there's so many great answers so far! I'm happy with a lot of the ideas. I wanted to add that there are a lot of us (all in our 20s) with different tastes, so any idea that can have a wide range is a plus! Thanks so much guys!

i got a great idea that i have been doing that is even cheaper on you.....i have been doing this for what will be 3 years now...my mom does the same...they are movie gift bowls...you give them to each couple..that way you kill 2 birds in one stone....you go to the dollor store and buy big popcorn bowls....in each bowl but a movie, bag of popcorn,2 sodas,2 movie boxes of candy, some beef jerky and there you go...wrap it in clear gift wrap and tie a bow..people love them!!!!!you can also do different things with the movies...like a basket with coffee and mugs...or hot chocolate and mugs...they are cheap...the bowl..1.00...you can buy a box of 15 bags of popcorn for 3.00...movies at walmart for 5.50...12 pack of soda for 3.00.....box candy.99....you get the idea...just work with it and with what the couple likes!!!!!

that is why this is a good idea..you can do the bowl according to their taste but everyone loves going to the movies but you bring a movie date to them..even if you cant do all of them by couple you are under 20.00 bucks per person!since you are all young you could even replace the soda with beer if the person drinks and are over 21!

I come from a large family, my brothers are married, with kids so I understand how had it can be to have to shop for everyone at the holiday's. Something my family does is me and my brothers and sister in laws each put our name in a hat and pick one person to buy for. We still all get gifts for the kids and for our parents but it makes it easier on all of us. We spend a little more for 1 gift rather then buying 10 cheaper gifts.
That might be something you can suggest, considering they are in there 20's they are probably tight on cash as well.

I definitely understand where you are coming from! Last year, in addition to all of the family Christmas presents, I had to find "thank you" gifts for my bridal party (we were married the weekend before Christmas). I have found that the best places to buy inexpensive, unique presents is Overstock.com or TJ Maxx/Marshall's/Ross. Shopping at just these stores we found jewelry, crystal decanters, gourmet foods, handmade Christmas stockings, leather gloves, picture frames, you name it - at very reasonable prices. It takes some time hunting through the store/website and some creative thinking, but you should be able to find everything you need to fill out your shopping list.

Oh, yes... and if all else fails, buy your friends a bottle of their favorite wine or liquor!

personalized gift baskets! Put in things your family would really like. If mom is a baker put some fun baking items in. puzzle lovers? Go to dollar store and get crosswords. SO much and baskets would look so pretty under the tree!

I recommend buying large cotton kitchen towels or napkins and tying it up as a "goody sack" with a ribbon -- in the goody sack you can put an assortment of things, depending upon the recipient. I suggest: snack and foods and maybe a small item or two that isn't edible... like: cheese and crackers and a small bottle of wine, olive oil or something and a cute little cutting board... or... bath gear: soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, loofah and maybe a candle... get the idea? I've done this and people have really enjoyed their gifts -- I had fun shopping for them and creating the sacks. Good luck.

My family(me in particular) are bad about not sending current photos. So, if you are like us(me) it's a good time to send out some new family photos. My husbands family lives in CA and we live in AR. Every year they send us a homemade calendar of pics they have taken throughout the year. I'm going to try it myself this year. You can get the calendar kits cheap at a hobby or craft store and just print out your favorite pics. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

You can't go wrong with gift baskets. You can make them as cheap or expensive as you'd like - the most fun part is shopping for things to put in them:

You can do a coffee basket - individual pots of coffee, tea, cocoas, cookies/biscotti, chocolate dipped spoons, flavored honeys, etc. You can something as simple as decorating a mug (for one) to an entire basket with mugs for the whole family, including liquers for the adults!

You can do a spa basket - massage oils, back massager, relaxing bath salts, slippers, lotions, all the way up to robes(!). Again, can be a nice gift for a couple (toss in a nice bottle of wine, too!)

Or, for a fun basket, decorate a 6-pack of soda or beer with packages of chips, nuts, snacks, cheese & crackers and movie rental certificates.

A wine and cheese basket is always a nice basket, and it's fun when you pick out fancy crackers and/or cheeses

For someone who just moved: a laundry basket with either household staples (cleaners, detergents, etc.) to pantry staples (spices, etc.) or hammer/nails and duct tape.

Got a cook? How about a pasta bowl? Find a fun, funky bowl and load it up with pastas in fun shapes, gourmet sauces, spices, a pasta server, imported cheeses to grate, olive oil, etc.

Or for the whole family? A popcorn bowl (cute if you paint it/decorate it yourself!) with popcorns, movie rentals, a board game, etc.

Know a fire eater? A nice basket of gourmet hot sauces, cheeses and fancy crackers is a GREAT gift. (Bonus if you can find some good Bloody Mary mix!)

Again, if you look around, you can find a lot of this not very expensively, and depending on how many people you'd like to include, you can go as simple or as elaborate as you'd like. Have fun!

One really great idea is to make up like some lasangas or a hotdish that is freezable...put it into those throwaway baking tins. You can give them each a box full of home cooked meals that you spent the time making and will be greatly appreciated. You also can make up some of thier favorite cookie dough, roll it into balls and freeze on a cookie sheet. Once the balls are frozen you can put them into a ziplock bag. That way they are like homemade cookies, but with take and bake ease. I know lots of people who do this for loved one's especially 20-somethings who don't have time to cook. Its cheap, easy and they know you spent time and thought on it.
