I also have 2 corys, but they all get along great. The water just became cloudy and is clearing up. All water levels tested good. Anyone have any insight as to why this happened? Is it neon tetra disease?

If they can't swim, that is a sign of problems with the air bladder. I am not sure why, but if everything tests out right, maybe it was just the one fish problem.

Well, this did sound like ammonia or nitrite poisoning, but if your levels are at zero like you said, your next best bet is your pH. If the tetras are neon tetras, they are very sensitive fish because they are so overbred, and any changes in the pH or temperature or pretty much anything else in your aquarium can cause them to die off. Did you by any chance just recently do a water change or add any chemicals or conditioners to your water? Or did you recently add a piece of coral or sea shells or driftwood (which will change the pH and alkalinity)? If there have been no recent changes to your aquarium and your ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, pH and temperature are all acceptable for tetras, then all I can say is small tetras like neons and cardinals have a tendency to just die on people from fragility or old age. If, however, you continue to see a tetra die every day, then I would go out and buy new test kits, because yours may not be reliable. This is not neon tetra disease. NTD is a slow degenerative disease.

Do you've an air stone contained in the tank? feels like they are searching for oxogen. you fairly want to get a higher tank or go back the angel. They get a minimum of 6'' excellent to bottom in length and that is cruel in that small of a tank. make constructive that's a tiny angel now or your neons will develop right into a particular take care of. The neons are tremendous, in case you want yet another fantastically fish upload ONE male betta with the neons yet which will be your max. As others have suggested make constructive you verify your water perameters. try ammonia and nitrite (could be at 0) and nitrate (20-40ppm is tremendous). Eep did not comprehend the tank is largely 2 days previous!!! it fairly is a lot too many fish. examine up on right here various questions about installation a sparkling tank. Your fish are suffereing from new tank syndrom which will ensue even as a tank isn't authentic set up. I only cycled my one hundred and twenty gallon tank utilizing fishless biking. look up 'fishless cycle' on yahoo for extra information on a thanks to attempt this. This procedure helps a community of micro organism to develop that fluctuate the poisonous ammonia produced intro nitrite (that is also poisonous and yet another micro organism sorts to educate that into nitrate) some nitrate is tremendous and could feed your flora once you've stay flora. If nitrate degrees bypass above 40 which could develop into risky on your fish so that's counseled to do a 20% water replace per week.. no extra. So i'd go back your little fishies now earlier they die (that is an in intensity to truth) and bypass with fishless cycle in case you do not want to kill any. in case you want to danger it then keep 2 neons (i'd propose getting a extra hardy fish like zebra danio) till the micro organism form or the fish die and also you may attempt back. To me it fairly is excessively cruel and fantastically propose fishless cycle the position i understand it tanks plenty extra staying power yet you'll experience reliable about it and the fish will thanks. Fishless cycle lets you study about your tank water without taking area in with lives. reliable good fortune!! keep your fishies!!!

Is it a new tank? Probably couldn't get used to the new surroundings and was probably already a weak fish. Let me give you some advice. Tetras are pretty and all, but they aren't that interesting. If you are going to have a fresh water tank, ditch the 10 gallon. They get so mucked up and if you get fish that grow and live longer like cichlids, you will want a bigger tank like a 28 gallon. Make sure you have undergravel filters as well as a nice whisper up top. Make sure you always keep the temperature stable. Sudden temperature changes will cause any freshwater aquarium fish to get fungus on their scales and they will die in no time. You do dechlorinate the water right? And check the PH balance? Don't overfeed? Make sure they have lots of air bubbles going on? Since they are not living in a babbling brook, they need to have aireation to create oxygen. Good luck and all in all? It is only a tetra. They are cheap. Good luck.

Well watch your tetras carefully over the next couple of days. If none of them die or any of your other fish I wouldn't worry about it. You don't know how old that fish was when you got it so it could be that it was just its time to die.

If you are worried about it. Change your water, change the filter, and get those drops that you put into the water. Get new rocks and put any fish tank decorations and soak them in hot water.

If no more fish die than you do not have a disease. If you do you will have more fish dying in the next couple of weeks. I introduced two new fish into my tank awhile back. It was in my day care classroom and they were getting neglected due to the fact they got a bunny. Two weeks after I put them in all my fish were dead.

your fish didnt die because he was swimming vertically. he was already sick, im not an expert on the tetra disease but i really much doubt that that is what it is. your fish was in pain and he started to flip out and started swimming up. my fish swam vertically and jumped out of the tank.

You have a 10 gallon tank with 8 fish in it? man, that's probably why the fish died, they need a little more space.

sounds like a swim bladder disease. put some treatment in the tank for it (you can find it at your local pet store)
