At 52,I regret not being encouraged to play it.I could play simple tunes when my age was in single figures! I couldn't read music and could only play by listening to a tune then hitting the right notes on a piano. I would like to have learned the piano and composition but this wasn't the done thing back in the early 1960s.I couldn't do it now due to very bad arthritis in all my fingers on both hands. The last time I tried any composition was back in 1971/72 when I was 18 and haven't done anything since. Now drumming........!!!

I regret never learning an instrument properly when I was young - I took up violin (this is a serious error as a first instrument - sounds more like cats wailing and fingernails down blackboards for a very long time!) and never really tried to get to grips with it - total lack of motivation!

Now I try and play guitar, but wish I had learnt an instrument earlier - playing with others is a skill I've not mastered, and I think had I learnt an instrument earlier I'd find it easier now!

I regret taking keyboard lessons instead of piano. However, I also regret starting my lessons so late. It was never encouraged - even tho I had a keyboard I loved when I was 5. Now I want to learn guitar because it's apparently one of the easiest instruments for adults to learn.

Absolutely! I really wish I had kept at it. There was an old piano in the warehouse where I worked. I often stayed behind after hours picking out tunes, chords etc. Having never learned to read music I was happy to play by ear, I was getting quite good at it. I rue the day when that piano was scrapped! I think your question may have just influenced my Christmas wishes. Dear Santa, Please can I have..........

I got to grade 1 and quit to play the guitar. Now I regret it, because I'm having a time to loosen up my fingers enough to play my midi keyboard, which I'd like to use in my music recordings!

Yes! But.... I've started taking lessons again and I have found that I didn't lose that much. In fact, my teacher is trying to figure out what to do with me. How cool is that???

Yes I do. I hated my mom for dragging me to lessons, but now I do not remember much. I would love to play again.
