Why? If not, is there a real alternative on offer?

Well i don't mind him too much, when comparing him to the others on offer. Yes he has made some poor decisions, but there are good things here. Fairly low inflation, the best 10 year average interest rates ever, and lower unemployment than the last shower could offer us.

There are of course things to dislike, for me it would be the problem of immigrants spiralling out of control, and although i don't mind having allies, are we now just a bit too cosy with the usa?

He started out quite well but has lost credibility.

It is now well known that the reason for going in to Iraq was a 'sexed up' dossier of misinformation.
In addition to that he has allied himself too closely with Pres. Bush.
There is nothing wrong with being an ally and a friend but he is seen as just to close and not sufficiently independent. The word 'lapdog' has been used - amongst others.
President Bush calling 'Yo Blair' over an open microphone at an international conference showed up the position clearly.
So Blair has lost the credibility and respect of the office of Prime Minister.
His handling (or lack thereof) of the immigration problem, crime out of control, political correctness and a sense that English people are 2nd class in their own country has also added to his unpopularity.
Finally and perhaps worse, is his great sell out to Europe.
He totally capitulated to Brussels on the matter of the UK rebate.
I understand that UK pays something like £15 million PER DAY to Europe.
In short, Tony Blair is not seen as having the best interests of England at heart and is simply no longer trusted

Blair ignored the protests of 1000s of Brits against the war in Iraq.

Blair has robbed British people of their dignity in the eyes of the world by acting like George Bush's B.ITCH.

Blair thinks he's a President not a Prime Minister.

Blair has done nothing for the people of this country. He floods the country with immigrants while British people are struggling to get by, skilled and unskilled jobs are being monopolised by immigrants, British families are homeless (while immigrants get council houses), crime has gone through the roof and taxes are draining people. As a result the country is on its knees.

If you are a decent hard working taxpaying Brit who keeps their head down, does their job and gets on with it you get NOTHING back from the Government. If you are a scrounger or someone who is just here to suck what they can from the ti.t of the UK you get everything.

Can you gues why noone likes him?

As for an alternative, I'm waiting to be convinced. Although I can't see anyone being worse than him.

Liked by himself and hated by everyone else.

There's no alternative in the Labour Party that's for sure - if you think Tony "The Grin" Blair is bad, just wait for Gordon "Mr. Personality" Brown.

As the Lib-Dems remain unelectable - not least because their leader properly belongs in a retirement home for the terminally confused - the only realistic alternative lies with the Conservative Party.

some people only associate tony blair with iraq.
On a personal basis i think the occupation of iraq is beneficial to many nations in many ways.not least iraq.
However, the reason tony blair joined the alliance is most certainly different to mine.
Tony blair has no love of britiain , no insight, no policies, no spirit, no honesty.Tony blair and his revolting with of a wife cherie are egotists obsessed with power and image. An image they will do anything to preserve.Even if that means dancing to president bushs tune.Even if it means selling our proud nation to islam for the price of a few votes.
And then if hes still desperate to remain in power he can bend like a willow to appease a new focus group every week. Then he can amend the voting structure so that he can "win" another election. Then if people dont take him seriously, he can make a new mindless oppressive law for every day that he has been in power. And if we begin to speak out against his crimes , he can make freedom of speech a crime!
Can anyone remember the election poster campaign the conservatives ran when blair was about to gain power?
It was a picture of blair smiling with the poster paper torn away ear to ear.And underneath it revealed 2 red evil eyes.
Did it show an uncanny insight into tony blair?

In Belgium they think he is an idiot.
The greeks want to sue him!
In Holland and Germany: they do not trust him.
In Saudi Arabia they wrote that he acts as if he is Bush's PA.

Really disliked.

I think Cameron and the Conservatives are starting to be a real alternative.

Tony Blair is very unpopular, shame we don't have midterm elections like US.
Sadly as you point out there is no alternative.
Blair v Call Me Dave - I'd rather vote for Spongebob!

He has taken the British public as a load of mugs. In stead of listening to us he has taken it upon himself that he knows best,
and he is only interested in is his so called claim to being a world leader at our expense. So,in answer to your question,as far as I am concerned, the man is loathed and I would think the majority of us feel the same way.
