I subscribed DirecTV about a year ago. I have been on an extended vacation in Australia since Feb. this year, and will not be returning to the States until at least January or Feb. of 2007. I have been emailing DirecTV requesting to discontinue all of my services with DirecTV repeatedly, and all I got was emails telling me that there are "guidelines" that needed to follow, and that a representative would call me and discuss the issues with me. I gave them my telephone number (and postal address) here in Australia, but nobody ever contacted me. Who should I complain to about this???

First of all stop emailing them. You have to put it in writing in a certified letter to the company, making a formal request. Also, you usually are obligated to a contract with people like them for at least one or two years. Most people dont read the fine print when signing with these companies. Next report them to the Better Business Bureau they will help you resolve the issue with this company. They will ask you to fill out a formal complaint form and then send it to the company your having the problem with. Usually this resolves the issues at hand. At least you will have a third party involved and things will get solved. Especially when you involve the Better Business Bureau of your state, or the state you resided in at the time of your signing up with Direct TV
