If you want the truth, I'll tell u--was never there--the idea comes from a pagan celebration but people are led to believe in this, Satan's system that is, that we are to celebrate his birth as Christmas. Look it up!
His death for all mankind is the only thing that Jesus said to observe. Remember? The last supper?
Getting into all other celebrations does not apply here.

Christmas has Pagan roots. Any history book will tell you that. There was a period of time (actually twice) when Christmas was banned. When the Christian Church was first getting established in the Middle Ages, they banned the winter holidays. Then they decided that the only way to convert Pagans without causing riots was to borrow their holidays. Thus Christmas in the religious sense was created. It was again banned by Puritan Americans. But it has always been a Pagan holiday.
Biblical scholars even agree that according to the Bible, Jesus was not born on Dec 25 or anywhere near winter. Dec 21-25 belonged to other Pagan religions which is why that particular date was chosen. Shepherds in Israel and the surrounding areas never watched their flocks in the winter.
Candlemas and Yule are not the same holiday. Yule is the predecessor of Christmas though.
X is the Greek for Christos which is where the title Christ comes from. Therefore Xmas is the same as saying Christmas and it is not disrespectful at all. I was told that by a very conservative Christian pastor.

They replaced Christ with an X and call it X-Mas. I dont know why they did that. I tell ya. You gotta watch em. Some stores arent allowed to say Merry Christmas. They have to say Happy Holidays. I want to have a Mary Christmas.

There has NEVER been a Christ part in Christmas.
Christ died at 33.5 years old. He died on Nisan 14 of the Jewish Calendar (which is the First Full Moon AFTER the Vernal Equinox (first full moon AFTER March 20 or 21st in some years). So, he died around 2 weeks or so after March 20th, putting him his death around the first week of April. SO, lets count BACK SIX MONTHS TO HIS 33RD BIRTHDAY! Putting Christ Birthday squarely in October. OMG, AND THAT WASN'T EVEN ROCKET SCIENCE!
So, we see he died on a Tuesday, since Nisan 14 is always on a Tuesday and he died on Passover which is what Nisan 14 represented from the days of Moses to the days of Christ. Every year on that day, a perfect lamb was slaughtered to represent the future Savior, with the death of Christ, the perfect Lamb of God, that lamb was now longer needed and Passover was done away with. Then Christ institued The Lord Supper to be done yearly in its place on Nisan 14.

It is entirely up to each individual to make a holiday the way they want it. Christmas is more secular to many people due to tradition.

Great question !!!!!
Christmas was to celebrate the BIRTH of CHRIST.....the date itself was chosen later...but it's still for the same reason......
For all of those people who are offended by hearing Merry Christmas.....then stay out of those stores at this time of year.....what are you shopping for?.....Those 2 little words are not going to ruin your life..I guarantee it......a simple thank you or even just walking on by would suffice.......and your day will continue.
There is not one person who is wanting to cause you harm or offend you by saying those words...they are simply happy to be celebrating a glorious day......
And before you all go crazy here......I'm not a bible thumping crazy woman.....I just believe in Christ........try it...or not....its your choice.

Perhaps a better question is "What happened to the 'Saturn' in 'Saturnalia?' That was the holiday being celebrated when the pope decided it was easier to let the pagans have a little fun than burn everybody at the stake. (After all, if you kill everyone, who will pay the tithes?)

When you're right, you're right.
It's really discusting how materialistic x-mas has become. People get offended if they don't get gifts or if the gifts are of quality. It really is a big market that is going straight to hell for taking the CHRIST out of CHRISTMAS!!!!

people have twisted Christmas around to make it what they want it to be . . . it's up to each individual person to make sure the REAL reason for Christmas is remembered . .
