My husband and I saw this on the news this morning. We both agreed that either they (Toys For Tots)should ask the families first their opinions before rejecting the toys or they should be given to churches to give out at Christmas. There are a lot of families that wouldn't mind the toys. I don't think all of the children should suffer because of a few others beliefs (I feel the same about Halloween). After all we do live in America... don't we? Since when is it American to not be Christian? Oh that's right... most of the people complaining aren't American. Silly me!

Christmas is supposed to be fun for kids. I would feel gypped if I got a Jesus doll for Christmas when I was a kid. What do you do with a Jesus doll? Listen to it preach? I think it was a good decision by Toys for Tots. There are a lot of people who celebrate Christmas who are not Christians...some celebrate just for the fun of a holiday.

What about those who don't celebrate the holiday. I'm a Druid and celebrate the Winter Solstice. If I got a Jesus Doll from someone I'd actually be offended quite heavily. So I support the Toys for Tots for not allowing the doll. It's not that I hate or dispise christians or catholics, its just a basis that if I got something like that, gift or not, it'd be like a slap in the face against what I believe in. I hope this is clear and somewhat understood.

It's not just for Christmas. It's for holidays during the season and Christmas is not the only one. Why is it that you think Toys For tots should only give toys to those who celebrate Christmas?? Jewish children don't count?

Why are Jewish and Muslim children celebrating Christmas? Aren't these donated for Christmas gifts?

I saw this topic being discussed on the bulletic board of a very well-known site that deals with urban legends (the story sounded offbeat, so I went to check it out).
A number of commenters there pointed out, and with good cause, I believe, that "4,000 Jesus dolls might be a little hard to distribute"----especially since T4T tends to deal with groups needing toys, not so much individual households....
There were also a couple comments wondering why the toy's manufacturer didn't approach churches, which (logically) would be in a better place for distribution of a religiously-based item.
(Shrug) Takes all kinds....myself, I'd have been giving out all sorts of neat classic toys and board games, but....

Well on Toysfortots.org their mission is...
.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program
MISSION: The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
So I can't see them banning a jesus doll. They say Christmas right in the mission statement.
Oh but here is a link to the news story. It sounds kind of contradictory to their mission statement and perhaps they should change christmas to holidays if they are gonna make decisions like this...

It is wise to me. with the aid of fact the article states, "Toys for babies does not be attentive to something with regard to the non secular affiliations of the youngsters who acquire its presents." Now, like it or not, Chistmas has taken on an extremely secular ingredient and dissimilar non-non secular or perhaps non-Christian families substitute presents in this time. If evidently the relatives that gets the toy isn't Christian, then, nicely surely that's a undesirable present, and Toys for babies merely desires to verify that each and every physique the youngsters they provide gives you to are happy. i could recommend the producer of the dolls donate them to church homes so the undesirable in the congregation can get them.

I think that adults are making way too much of this. Kids would just take the doll and hug it just like any stuffed animal.
