repeats are generally frustrating, especially at tea time, and when you just want a bit of goggle box company. But more people will catch an episode they havnt seen this way (not having had sky for 8 years for example I tend to catch a new one)
I'm still trying to figure out how when it comes to repeats I will either have (a) never seen the episode myself or (b) sat through it about eight times at one point of other in my life.

Absolutely NOT!
16 years and still going....Best show on television. Longest running TV series EVER, longest running animation show EVER. Probably one of the best written shows EVER.
If people were sick of it, it wouldn't be on the air. The fact that it still is, should tell you that Simpsons will be around for a long long time to come. The show isn't even over yet. Imagine how long the syndication will run for when it finally does end.
Can you say 20 more years of Simpsons!
Excellent....

I don't understand how you could be sick to death of reruns. Is someone forcing you to watch them? Try turning the tv off.
Judging from your additional comment, it seems your real problem is that you have too many tvs in your house. Every house should have at least one room with no television in it. Americans are turning into morons because the tv is on all the time.

You, Madam, have a humour problem! (a lack of it)
I can't afford the boxed sets and refuse to suscribe to Sky on principle so C4 is my only source of the Simpsons at the mo. There is enough crap on TV - look at stuff like My Family, I'm a Celebrity, Corrie, Spooks, Dr Who (which the Beeb seems to spend more in promoting than producing), Friends, the X Factor, and of course all those quiz shows covering the wee hours for insomniacs. I pay my licence - can't I expect one small programme in return?

I was so sick of seeing the same ones (all from early seasons) on Channel 4, so my solution was to download all 16 complete seasons and watch them over a couple months. Now I don't need to watch any simpsons ever again!

No way, I could never get sick of them. But thy this - get a Simpsons trivia book and read it through. Then when you watch the show, you will be excited when you find out the answer.
