Build your inbound links.
Most of the directories online charge a cheap one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank.

Because different Search Engines use different algorithms, your web-site will never have same position in different search engines, no matter how optimized it is. The question is, for what search engine should you target optimization? Google, Yahoo, MSN, AllTheWeb, Altavista, or some other? One way to decide is to know what search engines have most users. Those are Google and Yahoo. However, these two give very different results. Which one is better? Well, experience tells it is Google, and for several reasons. When typing a 4 word query that exactly matches a (good) page on one web-site, and gives a total of only 40 results, Google gives the right page, while Yahoo gives several wrong pages that link to the right page. This is only one obvious example that tells with certainty that Google algorithm works better. Google algorithm is more democratic. This means that new pages and web-sites can more easily compete with old and well established web pages. For Google, content is more important than links and site history. Yahoo seems to have an opposite approach. This is an obvious reason to choose Google, as content can be changed, history cannot. Also, since the number of new websites is expanding every day, new site owners will like to see their sites in search engine results, and since this is more probable with Google, you can bet that Google will have more and more users, and Yahoo will have less and less. As a conclusion, while most engines have some things in common, and therefore some search engine optimizations will be useful for all, in some aspects they rank results very differently, and therefore, what is better for one engine is worse for another. This can be made an advantage, if for example website SEO achieves top results for different variations of a phrase in different engines. Note that if you are in a competitive industry, optimization for multiple search engines is possible with technique called cloaking. Cloaking means that different pages are shown to users and to search engines. In addition, each search engine can be served with a different page, but this requires additional investment. Also, it needs to be done ethically, as providing one page to users and significantly different to search engines would be misleading for users, and would get your site on a black list (banned). Ethical means, for example, providing some text in bold to one search engine and in italic to another because each may like better bold or italic.

Top 10 will cost you alot of money, there are billions of websites and everyone wants to be on top 10. It all depends on how many similar websites there are. You need to design and setup your website in a right way. First of all you need to have meta tags in your html code, in meta tags you put keywords and site description, keywords are very important and people pay money to get right keywords(there are even specialists for that), but what you can do is find some high ranked websites edit their html and see which keywords they used :) hehe)), also you need to have alot of content on your website..if your website is 1meg big then you won't even get to top 10000 lol. so your site needs to be big, plus content should be updated every month or so, and you need to have alot of external links(very important...and i'm not talking about like 2 links...i'm talking about hunders of links, and you need to make people visit your site from yahoo search) and put yahoo search banner on your site or something. there are many free or not free(but can be downloaded from something like limewire) programs that would analyze your site and rank it, or programs that would optimize your website. you can try to run that software on some high ranked website and get full report, then make sure your site gives same report...also don't forget that you need to have www name not just from free hosting, and you need to include robots.txt file in your index dir. so it all could be done but takes time

First you need to search for relevent key words with little competiton there are many keyword tools out there but I use the very cheap nitchebot http://www.nichebot.com/members/go.php?r=2062&i=l0
After you found some good quality keywords to focus in on you need to put them through out your pages 2%-8% is usually a pretty good number don't go overboard! Make sure you use some h1 and h2 tags and at least a few text links through out your content.
BLOG BLOG BLOG I like word press it has a pings everytime you make a post.
Get as many good quality incoming links as you can It will take a while but you have a good chance as long as you focus on those keywords with little comp. I have been doing this for a while and am starting to get pretty good at it . I also read tons of material as much as I can get my hands on.
Good luck

1 Pay Yahoo!
2 Pay Yahoo! and Google
3 Hire a company in India to hit and browse your site for 3 months.
4 Pay Yahoo!
You can write a script that will open and close your page while you are at work, but thats like cheating. /g
