you need to use a router, and the right cutter, depending on the size you need. a ovolo cutter is needed. jigsaws are not the right tool

I think everyone that answered before me assumes that you want to cut a circle because that is what they are telling you how to do.
Your question is " How do you cut a round edge on a kitchen work top" I take this to mean that you want to know how to round the edges of the counter top on your kitchen work station.
You need a good router and a bull nose router bit. the size of the bit will depend on how much material you want to take off of the edge of your top. You can purchase bits from 1/8" inch all the way up to 1" inch at your local lumber supply store. If you just want to chanfer the edge a little so it isnt sharp a 1/8" or 1/4 inch bit will work well for that but if you want a good full rounded turn then you will probably want a 3/4" inch bit.
Always remember: when removing material from the edge of your top or panel, always and i mean always clamp a piece of scrap wood to the corner that you are moving your router toward so the corner of your expensive material doesnt get splintered or blown out

I'm guessing yer wanting to turn a square edge into a round one... router is the way to go, with the proper bit. Measure the thickness of what yer edge is, and then get a bit that will make the shape you want.. there are literally hundreds of choices, and any good router (mimimum 1/2 hp) will do it. Course, I'm assuming that this is wood; if its a laminate, prepare for a mess... remove what you can from the edge before you start...and realize that formica is for flat edges; you'll have to figure on painting, or some of those fancy coatings...

How steady is your hand?
I would get a compass, or some other round edge which will be neat, mark this lightly in pencil, and then I would either use my jigsaw or handsaw (depending on the size and awkwardness), saw away and then sand to finish. If the worktop is in wood, then finish with danish oil.

okay, same guy, slightly different question... the string-and-marker idea is a good one to make yer curve. Depending on the thickness of your material, either a router or a jigsaw will work; the rule-of-thumb I learned was: if it was more than an inch thick, use the jigsaw. Up to you whether you take this top off, or leave it in place and do yer work. Good luck?

Get yourself a coffe can, a plate, or any round object of the size you want and hold it to the corner making a pencil mark around where you want to cut. If you don't like the size, move it or get a bigger or smaller object. Then just use a jig saw and cut.

When you cut use a fine toothed jig-saw blade as not to make a tear-out. Don't cut the angle too sharp or the laminate edging will snap. Then form the tops to make a nice finish. Done!

it's sounds like you want to round over the edge of the counter top is this right???? If so then you will need a router to do this job correctly. 3/4 hp will be fine. You can get different sizes to round the edge I think 1/2 in. would be about right. just make sure that you got counter-clock wise when you use the router..............good luck on your project------------

There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over thousands plans in the one package deal. Go here https://tr.im/UyBoi
This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.

tie a pencil on a string. Hold the other end of the string on the counter, and extend the pencil all the way and draw rounded edge. Then use a jig-saw and cut.
