We are all created with an instinct to worship. Unfortunately sometimes our human nature causes us to misplace our focus in worship. For instance, in the secular world we see celebrities being worshipped. Preachers, teachers, missionaries, worship leaders, etc. are sort of the Christian equivalent to secular celebrities. Be careful! Keep yourself humble before Him! Your Christian friends and family aren't doing you any favors by putting you up on a pedistal. All too often, people in places of authority or public view who take the place of worship in others lives (intentional or not) eventually experience a great fall. God will not share His glory with anyone. Think of what happened to Lucifer.

Would they react the same way if you said you wanted to be a writer, or a musician, or a doctor, or a lawyer? Maybe they are just showing support and you are misinterpreting their reaction. Being a missionary is challenging, and so they admire you for taking the step. Don't dwell on it but start putting your plans into action.

because to good deed on this earth, is challenging and that challenge you have accepted. accepting that challenge one need good heart and big stinma.
no one wants to choose hard and tough challenge. they just know how to give pride to the missionary.
and i will say it is good that you dont have proudness in you. you just feel missionary as a human betterment and good thing

the fact that you think what you are doing is no big thing itself proves you have all the qualitied to become one ... you might not think it is a big deal but it is in this day and age when everything has become soo selfish and materialistic ... they do it cos they know they will never be able to make the sacrifice you do ... all the best to you ...

I don't know why they are doing that but the question u should be asking is if you think that what you are doing is right than why are you letting what they say about it get to you? And No you're not the only one I do to.

think about it. you are choosing the lifestyle of saints. your parents see it as a guaranteed entry into heaven for you. they don't have to worry about you on earth or in the afterlife. how can they not brag?
