I'm going to popular with this answer!

YES school uniform is great. It saves on the hassle of the latest this that and the other from stropping teenagers. My youngest son has a very strict uniform code at his school. I only wish they would include a 'school coat' as this would save headaches on having to have the latest fashion accessory.

I believe that a uniform makes the child feel part of a community where everyone is the same. I have to wear a uniform for work and think it's great because we get on with working instead of seeing who is wearing what!

Uniforms are worn for only a small proportion of the day when our little (or not so little) darlings can turn back into clothes horses!

I thinks so for many reasons....I remember when I was in school kids bullied kids that couldn't afford the expensive name brand stuff with uniforms everyone wears the same stuff, less bulling over fashion. Also kid's fashion detracts from learning, you have four girls in class talking about how cute one of the girl's outfit is rather than learning. Also less insults to other classmates that can cause problems in school and class, such as shirts that say X, and then the other that says you wear your X I'll wear mine (that was in my time of school), etc, it teaches kids how to dress appropriately for situations, kids that are wearing nicer clothes tend to act better, etc.. there are sooooo many reasons that uniforms are a great idea and should be required in all schools.

Wearing a uniform has its pros and cons.

Pros - Saves money on clothes the parents have to buy the kid. At school, kids wont be singled out for wearing a Wal-Mart shirt or something as trivial as that.

Cons - Most uniforms look dorky. Kids like to rebel and hate "looking alike".

Good Luck!

Its a good idea. However I think it should be simplified so all schools wear the same colour and style of uniform but each school has a badge which parents can be sewn on to the jackets. This would lower costs.

i like the idea of school uniform - wearing mufti lays pupils open to teasing about their fashion sense and there is enormous pressure on parents to provide expensive clothing above their budgets. wearing a uniform joins people together as a community (think of nuns, priests, girl guides, scouts, police, firefighters, nurses)
all that said - i hated wearing uniform when i was at school!!!

Absolutely! Not only teaching discipline but helping kids to learn how to conform. It also saves on clothes & stops all that comparing each other by what they're wearing as they are all equal in a uniform.

yes.everbody looks the same & can concentrate more on their studies rather than checking out the newest styles. It also prepares them for a job in the real world. Some orf the stuff kids wear could be the reason they never get hired. It also seperates the haves from the havenots.

If you were a mother, you would expect it. So many perverts out there who want to pick up children. The uniform gives the child an address. They are also perverts out there who are not known yet! Believe me, it's the best idea a school could have.

Saying that, when you're attending school, it's the worse! But believe me, they are protecting you as best they can from evil.

A modest uniform is good because then girls can't wear revealing clothing and distract guys from doing their school work.
