Fredo "rats" to another mob that wants to take over the Corleone family. Michael has him killed.

Edit: All...Fredo is the eldest (but dumb) brother. That's why he was never put in charge. Sonny was the second son.

Sonny is the oldest but he died before the mother.
After the mother died Micheal has Fredo Killed. This is in the second movie

Fredo (Freddy) goes fishing with Al Niri (Michael's right-hand man) and after praying the "Hail Mary" Al shoots Fredo in the back of the head. Pretty cool considering the end of the prayer says "Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen."

The oldest son's name is Sonny and he dies before his mother. He was setup by his brother-in-law. This all happens in the first movie.
