a) Convert the word problem into equations
2 hours * V km/h = T km
and
1.5 hours * (V+6) km/h = T km
b) solve the equations

Let x be speed on her first trip.
Then 2x=1.5(x+6), or 2x=1.5x+9, or .5x=9, or x=18.

So, the distance is 18*2=36, or C.
