My 9 month old is projectile vomiting ( not spitting up.. I do know the difference) at least 4 times a day and has been for about 5 days now. He is running a low grade fever that goes down right away with tylenol. He vomits randomly and every time he eats and has a bottle. I took him to the dr. Yesterday and they said that they couldn't find anything wrong, and its probably a virus. She told me to give him pedialite (which he keeps vomiting up) and that if his temp gets higer than 102 and he vomits more then 4 times that he needs to be seen. I don't know what to do! He has vomited 4 times already today and is very fussy and i think he is starting to get dehydrated, how can I help him?

I took him back to the dr and she said that he is mildly dehydrated and to keep giving him pedialite.... even though he keeps throwing it up. I guess I will just keep taking him in every day until they get sick of seeing me and do something for him!

Give him a few ounces of luke-warm coca cola. Sounds crazy, but it's been proven that a little bit of luke-warm coke will settle your stomach when you're sick. I have a book called "Doctor's Book Of Home Remedies For Kids" and that's what it recommends.

You can try some water, much smaller feedings.
Its normal for babies of this age to projectile vomit when they do throw up. Their insides are very compacted in a small space... so theres a lot of force behind the vomiting process.
You can call your doctor again and let him know that he's not keeping ANYTHING including liquids down.
It probably is a virus, and should only last 7-10 days. So you're atleast half way through. I'd say if it hasnt improved with smaller feedings/bottles and water instead of sugary flavored pedialite in a another 36-48 hours take him to the ER and get him treatment for dehydration.
Technically, if he were dehydrated with this sickness he would run a higher fever, which is one reason the doctor told you to watch for a high temp that comes back after the tylenol wears off.
Try the water, maybe 1-2 oz at a time, every hour or two.
Moms intuition will alert you if smoething is seriously wrong.

My daughter went through the same thing at around that age. As soon as she would drink anything out it came. Whether it was her milk, water, or pedialyte. The doctor just told me to keep trying to give her fluids. Well in my opinion doctors sometimes don't know what they are talking about. I took her to the ER that night and they told me that she was really dehydrated. She had to stay at the hospital that entire night due to her dehydration. She was on an IV. They also did all kinds of test such as testing for meningitis that the doctor couldn't have possibly known if she had it just by looking at her. Thank God it was just a virus but if I were you I would take him to the ER right away!!
Oh and my daughter had no fever at all!! Just dehydrated!!

Call the doctor back and insist they figure out what is going on. There is a condition called pyloric stenosis that causes the muscle connecting the stomach to the intestine to tighten and not let anything through. This means that whatever he eats can't go down so it must come back up. Your son is a little old to be showing symptoms because it usually affects babies 2 weeks to 3 months, but I would check into it just to be safe.

If he keeps throwing up and getting dehydrated then your doc should do something!!
When our boys caught a horrible tummy bug, our doctor gave them Phenergan suppositories. Totally horrible to give to them but it gets rid of their nausea so they can keep something down.
Watching some nursing student try and find a vein on a 9 month old is horrible so act NOW before he dehydrates and needs IV fluids. It can happen so quickly in a baby!!!

um, find another doctor or go to the ER. but theres really not much you can do except for pedialyte.. and if he throws that up, try water. there are pedialyte pops, those might help.
ur doctor is not a good doctor if hes not even going to try anything. but i would go to the hospital, thats wut i did when my son had the same symptoms after the 5 days passed. it should be gone soon if it isnt take him.
