I think 75% chances are of Australia. And as it is, they are playing at home, and it will be really difficult for them (England). They will have to be perfect in all three (3) departments to beat them. But I hope that it will be a good series. Anticipating some good games of Cricket.
All the best England!

England has to draw the series to RETAIN The Ashes. Australia needs to win the series to get The Ashes back. England has a slight advantage IMHO given this. A drawn series is worth a small punt.

I'd like to see England win but to be realistic, Australia have a very good team and England's chances of retaining the Ashes seem very unlikely.

I think it will be close. My heart says England, my head says australia. England are missing Simon Jones, who would have made a big difference to the fast bowling attack. English bowlers had a plan for all the Aussie batsmen last time around, for example they had Gilchrist. Their only chance is to reproduce those plans.
I don't think this series will reproduce the thrilling finishes of last time.
In conclusion I think Australia are slightly better in all departments. Come England Let's Be Avin' You - to prarphrase Delia!!!

Australia.
However, there are some key players who need to perform for that to happen.
McGrath & Warne to take wickets consistently. This should not be a concern, they are in the top five for all-time bowlers & have never let their team down.
Hayden, Ponting & Langer(should he play) need runs on the board.
And Gilchrist. If he plays well, Australia wins.
Should be a great & series but not very even all in all. England are susceptible mentally & have been for years. The Australians are ruthless & will take advantage of that.

Considering the present form of both the teams, Australia will defenitely win the ashes.
