When I say conservatism I mean the nutcase conservatism you see now. The Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Gingrich, etc.

Real old school conservatives say they hate this new idiot class of neo-cons. Joe Scarborough and other conservatives have actually signed petitions trying to get these nutcases out.

The days of Barry Goldwater conservatism has been hijacked by nutcase conservatives and incompetent idiots.

If I had a dime for every old school Goldwater - Reagan like conservative who has spoke out against the new era conservatives, I'd have a new house.

Since the elections has America said "Hell No" to Bush conservatism? Is this conservatism dead. And will common sense conservatism be back? Or has Bush ruined it for them too.

The Democrat party has come back with Conservative Democrats as I am. Corruption of the GOP has ruined their chances for quite some time with the immoral values and scandals that will have to be sorted out to bring back any trust in them. That is why the bi-partisanship vote came out November 7th, and Congress is now majority Democrat. Ultimate power corrupts, and those you have named are the victimizers of the corruption.

I don't think that conservatism is dead, not by a long shot. Many of the Democrats who won last week are actually very conservative, such as Jim Webb from Virginia.

As for the next conservative to go down, I'm betting on Dick Cheney. This has been discussed on Democratic Underground. One of their members speculated that Pelosi made a deal - we won't impeach Bush if we can have Cheney. I suspect that if such a deal exists, Rumsfeld was part of it. And it would be a piece of cake to get rid of Cheney - all they'd have to do is claim that he had yet another heart attack and is not well enough to stay in office. No one ever would find out the real truth.

at the starting up, not all liberals are godless or knowledgeable in 'satanic' universities. there is not a want for both you or Romney to make generalizations. i imagine that the accepted of living relies upon on who you're and no matter if the folk round you've similar mindsets. living in both very conservative Kansas and intensely liberal Oregon hasn't fairly printed some thing drastic, yet with the liberal mindset turns into extra of an emphasis on public products like coaching and well being care, the position red states favor to apply public reliable money on right here and now extremely of destiny progression (such issues as construction roads to create jobs). Neither of them are incorrect, it is only a diverse way of searching on a similar issues.

conservatism is not dead, my problem is with social conservatism, meaning not less government, but more intrusive government in our private matters. that brand of conservatism has no place in our society and it immediately cancels out any good that comes from fiscal conservatism.

The problem with some of your conjecture, is that you are calling Bush and others neo-cons, yet the last neo-con some of us remember is Newt Gingrich. But lets not debate labels.

Has it occurred to you that the platforms these Republicans campaigned on have not come to pass in the last 6 years?

Has it occurred to you that these Republicans subjected themselves to too much liberal appeasement, spent too much money and didn't accomplish much?

That's the way it occurs to me.

I think voters made it clear far right and far left views are no longer tolerated by the majority of voters.

Yes. America is tired of that brand of nuttyness you described.
And the intrusionism is unconstitutional and self-serving.
