There are not more or less important numbers. 9 is just a famous number because of it is the square of 3 (the first prime number), which supposed to be important too! The main reason of 3’s “importance” believed that is because is the number of the dimensions that could be understood by a simple observation (there is also the fourth dimension of time, but it can be understood through logic and not through the six senses!). According to this, a matrix of 3 vectors, which is a matrix of nine digits, produces the Euclidian space which defines the position of every single spot on earth (Euclidian mathematics have no value in space!). This fact gives an artistic harmony to every related with the number 9. This is also the reason of the importance of the number in the world wide mythology and folk tradition. However the importance of 9 stops there. Being something important mean that has several application to our life; however, 9 has not more or less application (except the tradition) than any other number and can not be recognised as more important than the others!

Because the sum of every multiple of 9 adds up to some multiple of 9.
e.g.
9 X 54 = 486
4+8+6 = 18 which is divisble by 9 ... 18/9 = 2

To Norse mythology, it was the number of existances
To egyptians it was the number of major gods
To the greeks it was the number of major goddesses
Also 7 ate 9 (7 8 9) according to the famous saying so it was important to the number 7 as food...
So it's pretty damn important

Well, 9 is the first odd square of a prime number. (1 is neither prime nor composite)
