has this ever occur, or is it true cuhz i have some people telling me that some ppl have made it to a uc with less than a 3.0 and only took one the sat 1.

You need at least a 3.5 (and excellent SATs) nowadays. They also favor those who can express themselves eloquently.

Yes, GPAs under 3.0 have been known to happen. After all, UC Berkeley does have a basketball team.

The UC system requirements ask for a minimum GPA of 2.8. And yes, they will take less academically qualified applicants on account of things like athletics.

When I was at UCSB, a friend insisted her high school GPA was a 1-point-something (I don't recall exactly), which was well below their stated minimum GPA. Her test scores were also low. It wasn't any kind of racial prefs (not sure if UCs do that anyway) as she was Korean. May have just been a mistake in the admissions dept or something...

You may get in with some really interesting extracurriculars or a great sob story.

I'm not sure, I was accepted with a 3.5 and that was considered low, but I floated like a Bee and mated like a Dog. I even mated with my English teacher and she was a firecracker. She passed me all "A's"
