I have just split with my husband due to adverse credit im struggling to open a bank account is ther anyone who works in the banking industry that can advise me please.

You can open a basic bank account in nearly any bank and your credit history is irrelevant. Typically you'll get a debit card (either electron or solo), a cheque book and the ability to set up direct debits. If they refuse, ask to see the manager - most banks are supposed to offer these kinds of account.

Failing that, try the post office.

There are several factors which needs to be taken into account. If i can as you few questions then i may be able to tell you where to go and they may even give you credit/debit cards. I have the same problem. I use a pre paid credit card to have my direct deposit checks put into.
