There is a possiblity that if you have an old house that someone who died in the house or lived in the house is still there in ghostly form.
They just do not want to leave the house. It is not your fault but something that happened years ago, to cause that ghost to want to stay around

Your house is not haunted. The land your house is on is retaining the remains of old spirits. (my opinion)

try finding the history of your house. was it built over an Indian burial ground? was a violent crime commited there? were satanic rituals or witchcraft done on that site? you may be surprised to find the answer you are looking for.
