What would be the best way to turn a 6 cylinder '99 mustang into a monster?

Don't waste your money.Buy a car with a V8,and build that one.You can pick up an old 5.0 Mustang or a V8 Camaro from the mid to late 80's pretty cheap.Go get a HOT ROD MAGAZINE,you'll get plenty of ideas from it.

A couple years ago the 5.0 Mustang magazine ran a test of some modifications to a v6 mustang that gained some impressive horsepower. You may want to look for it online somewhere. Also, the best modifications will vary from person to person depending on what you want to use it for and what you want to spend. If I remember correctly the magazine used new cams, cold air intake, exhaust headers and nitrous to get the power up over 300hp. They did not have any performance tests though to see what the 1/4 mile time was or 0-60 time. A turbocharger would also probably work well but getting one and getting it set up correctly could cost anywhere from about $3K to $8K but may have huge power gains with some engine work.

put a cold air intake into it. This will increase hp by about 15.If you really want to make it a monster u will have to fork up the money. But other things you can do is to redo the entire exhaust(headers and all). Also I would recommend a v8 but it isn't a big deal. Putting a turbo on it would also help out big time.

for teh cheapoest way, i believe, you'll want to get a new set of performance headers, a Borla exhasut, K&N cold air intake system, Red Line or Royal Purple oil, an upgraded air sensor, and finally a Superchip.
