A line is a straight one-dimensional figure having no thickness and extending infinitely in both directions. A line is sometimes called a straight line or, more archaically, a right line (Casey 1893), to emphasize that it has no "wiggles" anywhere along its length. While lines are intrinsically one-dimensional objects, they may be embedded in higher dimensional spaces.

Well... if this was a MATH CLASS question, your answer would be "the shortest distance between two points."

However, since it's an ART CLASS, the purpose of this question is probably to get YOU thinking about it- Your prof doesn't want you to get the "right" answer, she wants you to actually contemplate this idea. What IS a line? What is this thing that I draw on paper to make images appear? What IS it??? You need to think about it, that's the most important part- the enitre point of the question. There is no right answer, as long as you show that you've thought about it deeply.

Gee, I don't know for sure. I've heard it said like, "Don't give me that line" which sounds like someone thinks your lying to them. Or using trickery or something. ?!?!?!
Oops. art class? I just looked up and saw the rest of your post, lol. In art that would be the direction you were taking something wouldn't it?!
