The National Anthem is played on Radios 2 and 4 for major royal events. As today is the birthday of the Heir to the Throne, it is normal to play the Anthem. It is also played for both the Queen's real and official birthdays and also for the Duke of Edinburgh. It was played also during the lifetime of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

It's good to hear that "God Save The Queen" is still being acknowledged as our national anthem. I'm surprised we've not changed it to The Star Spangled Banner (version 2)!
