Being half Mexican (my good half), I have encountered quite a few. I think it is important at the outset to point out that most of the previous answers to this question have offered what they consider to be synonyms, rather than actually explaining the negative connotations.
I think the most common negative connotations are that Mexicans are generally less concerned with personal hygiene, less educated, less trustworthy, less intelligent (intelligence and education are two completely different things), have a poor work ethic, make less money, have excessive amounts of children, and are thieves.
I think it is ridiculous to think that Mexicans as a group are like this, as they are some of the warmest, friendliest and hardest working people around.
