What about you? Do race/gender matter? Will our next President be a woman?

I think people are lying when they say race and/or gender doesn't matter. Voting results are different from poll results, because people try to be politically correct, or at least not racist/sexist, when they respond to polls.

To me, race and/or gender does matter. If there was a woman or non-white person running for president whose politics I agreed with, I would vote for him or her. Meaning that if Condolezza Rice ran for president, I wouldn't vote for her (despite being a Black female), because I don't agree with her politics. Same for Hillary Rodham Clinton, because she's shown herself to be much more conservative as a senator than she did when she was First Lady.

I'm just hoping the next president is not a Republican (and/or a member of the Bush family).

I think that what we say, what we think we believe, and what lies hidden in our subconscious are three independent issues. I also think that people associate "gender" or "race" with "culture." I think a woman like Elizabeth Dole would have a better chance than Hillary Clinton because of Hillary's perceived hostilities. She scares some men - not because she's a strong woman, but because she comes across as demeaning towards men. Whereas Elizabeth Dole is perceived as strong, confident, but not hostile towards men.

I also suspect the first woman President will be a Republican, not a Democrat. This because a Republican woman is more likely to avoid the stigma of being a feminist. As the old saying goes "Only Nixon could go to China."

Next President? No. In the next 12-16 years? Probably. I think Giuliani's candidacy is a REAL problem for Hillary.

then apparently 65% of the US population are either lying about how their vote is influenced, or they don't have a very strong understanding of what influences them.
Race and gender do not matter to me, but I certainly recognise that it would cause some issues in gender/race/ relations for many segments of society.

If condi and hillary both go for and win their nominations, that would guarantee a female president. I also like Obama.

Race and gender do not matter. But the next president will not be a woman. Condi Rice will not run, and Hillary Clinton will not win.

Neither race nor gender impression me. Honesty, a confident attitude, and such issues as this impact me. I confident desire someone runs for workplace that has those traits. to this point not one of the applicants are exhibiting this. Neither Republican or Democrat, they're all scratching their heads questioning what to do next.
