The collection agency is now threating me. What should I do?

Did you report them stolen to the bank within 60 days of them being stolen?

If not, you're responsible for the use of the checks. You're SOL.

If you did report them, then send the correspondence copies and any other paperwork to the collection agency that they are in error.

I'm sure that thief is out now. But, usually they have to pay restitution. Get ahold of an attorney and find out what happened with it.

you need to get a hold of the prosecuting attorney that put that scumbag away and tell him what's going on.
